About Re[Map]

Forget everything you thought you knew about gaming! Re\ is a multiplayer 2D tank shooter where the controls are RANDOMIZED every round! Pick your color, hop in a tank, and figure out which button is shoot before your opponent kills you!

This game supports up to 4 local players and uses the frustration of not knowing the controls and turns it into a crazy party game

While inside your tank every action - move, turn, shoot, dash, eject - is mapped to a random button on the controller and the player who can adapt to their new controls the fastest wins! You don't need to master every new tank though, sometimes the only buttons you need are turn and shoot!

Your tank got destroyed? No problem, a new one is being airdropped back into your garage so run back over there and hop in. Be careful though, each new tank has remapped controls.

IMPORTANT! Because of the differences between controllers and keyboards this game can only support controllers! No complaining!

✦ AI summary

Players are sharply divided on Re[Map]. Some appreciate its core concept of randomized controls as a fresh puzzle-like challenge and enjoy the simple tank battler gameplay, while others criticize the intentionally obfuscated controls as poor game design that prioritizes gimmickry over actual gameplay depth. The game is consistently described as minimal and web-browser-like in quality, with supporters enjoying it for competitive play with friends but detractors feeling it lacks the substance and polish expected of a Steam release.

"Re[Map]" is a simple and unambitious tech demo, a "gimmick" game... a 2D top down tank battler (with no players), and the gimmick is that the controls are randomized so you need to work out which controls to use to play the game each round. As always, game developers fail when they try to make the interface of their game challenging instead of making the game challenging. This is always a terrible idea to make a game interface bad on purpose, and once more we see how that plays out with "Re[Map]"... it cratered on Steam Direct. So this looks like an old 1990's Adobe Flash game that you might play in a web browser, and the problem there is obviously Steam wasn't intended to try compete with Chrome and Firefox. If it can be done in a web browser, it's not even close to a cutting edge PC gaming experience. That's a problem. This feels more like a tech demo or a project smacked together hurriedly to try make a kind of minimum viable product just good enough to pass the developers unambitious idea and shove it into Steam Direct to see if you can actually pay and publish junk through Steam Direct. Yeah, you can. Is this good for gamers? Nope. The game features really lacklust…
