Now that most of the progression and save state bugs have been patched, I would recommend this game to anyone looking for a good-looking single player VR adventure game. It didn't quite hit the lofty expectations many of us had leading up to launch, but I still really enjoyed it. Watching the trailers, it looked like the opening tutorial level was almost a completely different genre and vibe than the rest of the game, but it did make a little more narrative sense after playing through it and they do a good job teaching the controls. Once you get used to the climbing and parkour mechanics, they work pretty smoothly and allow for some challenging platforming sections as you progress. The combat is OK, it's clearly not a combat-first game but not an afterthought either. The enemies actually move around and use cover a bit which is better than the charging bullet sponges you get in some games, but there were only a handful of rooms where I died in combat more than once or twice. The path through the levels is mostly linear, you do circle back through some previous areas as you progress but the environments have some large and detailed open areas and a feeling of vastness tha…

I have to say, Reach is becoming my favorite vr game of all time. I’m trying to understand how this wasn’t GOTY. It’s the most unique vr game mechanics that’s near perfect. This is a truly original title with great visuals, voice acting, and the scale…… wooooooowwwww… this is an awesome IP. Great work 9/10 Rtx 4090 FE 9800x3D Pimax Dream Air Lighthouse Sboy drivers

So far an amazing game, I didn't get on release, so I can't speak to launch issues, but I'm having no problems. The parkour is really really fun, you have to manually swing your hands to do a jump, and there's lots of it. You're equipped with a simple bow but powerful to defeat your enemies, and unlock other tools/skills throughout the game. The game puts in secret areas to make exploring and parkouring fun to further upgrade your character. The enemies AI is pretty good, where there's special enemies that make you strategize your next moves, the stealth is pretty good too with stealth takedowns, and theres plenty of ways to kill enemies, either it being the environment or your own arsenal. And the levels are unique, with visually pleasing scenes and puzzles to make you think. Some annoyances I have are that you just randomly grab stuff all the time (maybe an issue with index controllers). But it can break immersion and gameplay when i'm trying to move around and accidentally grab/grapple to other stuff. Overall, the game feels very good to play and immersive. 9/10, even at 40$ it's worth it.

Experienced on a Bigscreen Beyond 2e with Index controllers. One of the cooler VR experiences I’ve played but I totally understand the negative reviews. I do recommend this game but there are definitely some caveats that might be deal breakers for some. First the Pros: I think what this game’s biggest strength is the running, jumping, climbing, and using all your unlocked abilities as you progress. It might not be for everyone but I found it a whole lot of fun. As you progress you unlock abilities and optional power ups as you explore. The climbing felt natural but it has a very welcome “obviously you’re playing a video game” feel. It’s not a rock climbing sim. I think the progression feels really well balanced as well. With new abilities comes more complex jumping and navigating the world. The unlocking of abilities and finding power ups gave me a metroidvania vibe for sure. The whole world’s atmosphere, enemies, and tools reminded me a little of Half-Life in a way (a little!). The visuals and audio (including voice acting) are also great. Gameplay felt very smooth and even though the game is pretty linear, it was a very enjoyable experience 90% of the time. The mid: Okay even …

8.5/10. Excellent combat and parkour that gets better as you progress. bit buggy here and there but possesses more challenge and depth than most other VR games. graphics get better after the first little segment (which has some real ugly elements) and is an good looking game overall. gameplay is generally more challenging than most other VR games. I dont mind the difficulty of the parkour although one segment was frustrating where the grappling suddenly became crucial with no practice area nearby so had to try that one about 20 times. (they should have a little practice zone available as the precision required is zero prior to that then suddenly the skill floor is raised quickly) Generally Parkour feels great although the running command can feel a bit inconsistent and the character is always panting which i think is a bug. some great set pieces for climbing and manuevering. Combat is decent but the bow sometimes feels unimpactful (not damage wise but feel wise). Combat gets more fun as you progress.

Played on a quest 3 with steam link. Great visuals and art direction along with fun gameplay and an interesting story. The climbing and traversal feel top notch with the occasional dash of workable jank mixed in for good measure. Combat is easy to take cover and last stand yourself to a victory but if you take advantage of the playground each combat area has it becomes a fun flow of chaos. I did have an issue with being unable to access the menu or quit the game without using the steam overlay once the game was in progress though. End of the day I'm glad I picked this one up and gave it a go!
