About Red Gate

There is an old saying in this country. Whoever passes through the gate will have the power to destroy everything.
Time has passed, and few people remember this legend.
This is the story of a sentry in a certain country. He is a new recruit who has just arrived at his post. But fate is not waiting for him.
Another country, having heard the old lore, has sent an army in search of the “power to destroy everything” that has been passed down through the generations in this country. He must take on a great destiny to protect this country.
To save the people of his country, he must pass through the gate, gain power, and fight the enemy army.
But...Power comes at a price.
Still young, he passed through the gate without hesitation to save his people, but he did not know that.

You will be the new recruit, and you will go through two worlds, the world beyond the gate and the world where he exists.
You will defeat the enemy army and save the people.

This world (The world where he is)

There are powers and items you gained in that world and leveled up in this world. The objective is to use them to bury enemy armies and save people who need help. When you save someone, a soul is added to the vessel. There are 8 vessels in total.

That World (The World Beyond the Gate)

The objective is to receive soul points from special inhabitants and convert them into a powerful force. Robots are watching you and will eliminate you if they discover you. You can ask the inhabitants and animals about the world.
Soul points remain the same. Meat points are converted into money. This can be filled up to 8 containers. Soul points are converted into power-ups and meat points are converted into coins to purchase items. It is up to the player how to allocate them.

Between that world and this world

This is where upgrades and item purchases are made using points earned in that world. It is also the only save point in the game.
Some players may visit this place many times.

I have't played much of Red Gate game to recommend it, nor do I intend to. This game lacks context, guidance, and even a proper story progression besides the intro dialogue before you play. There is the settings to view the controls and volume, but tbh I haven't seen any purpose to use interact key "J" as most of the action is done using attack key "K". Beyond that, is a repetitive flip between being a human soldier, then a monster, then a human again and rinse and repeat. The screen sizing is also terrible for my computer, and I can't adjust nor fix it. The goal is unclear and confusing, I just spent the entire time running to every object I can see and spamming "K" on them until it did smth. Lack of NPC interaction, further dialogue and random decors/objects that can't be interacted with also furthers my confusion. Since it's still in EAG status, I cannot recommend this game as it is now.

Red Gate is a small but ambitious indie adventure that builds its identity around mystery, duality, and the unsettling allure of forbidden power. Set in a remote land on the brink of military conflict, the game casts you as an ordinary soldier suddenly caught in a legend far more dangerous than the war surrounding you. The mysterious Red Gate—an object of myth and dread—promises strength to those who enter it, but every promise carries a price. This premise sets the tone for an experience that mixes grounded duty with supernatural consequence, inviting the player to step between two worlds and piece together the truth behind a force that reshapes both reality and fate. Even in its earliest moments, Red Gate shows a strong desire to blend narrative tension with mechanical experimentation. The structure of the game revolves around traveling between your home world and the realm that lies beyond the gate, each offering different resources, atmospheres, and dangers. In the otherworldly plane, you collect soul points from strange inhabitants who react to your presence in unpredictable ways, while in the regular world you turn those souls into upgrades or purchase items using meat point…

This game has great potential, shame the Dev abandoned it, don't get it unless the updates started coming out again. As of writing this it is an alpha build but the fun of it is in discovering and understanding the mechanics of the world
