Red Rope: Don't Fall Behind

For 25 years now me and my gamer friends play cooperative games. Many duos and a lot of group coop gaming, we even once had a hobby coop-game site. I think we played most of the older coop games and are always looking for creative, outstanding and innovative coop games and we appreciate challenge and friction and games that make you engage with the game itself but also with how you act as a team. Red Rope is – hands-down - one of the best 2p coop games there is! It excels in absolutely every metric: Beautiful pixel graphics and a very distinct visual style that is goth and renaissance style and cosy as well as horror. I don’t even know how that makes sense but it does and big part of this successful atmosphere is the music. The presentation is really flawless but is even getting overshadowed by the gameplay. This is coop through and through – one mistake is killing you and it does not even matter which partner contacts the enemy, easily the other partner could be at fault because they carelessly yanked you into the enemy or the other way around. This game is an amazing litmus test of how poorly communicating, overbearing, dogmatic, underwhelming, or slacking your partner or yourself can be. It highlights your character faults and communication wins/failures for sure. I love it.
