About Rescue Rover Collection
Dogs: Man’s best friend.
Evil Robots: Dog’s worst enemy.
Experience the original Rescue Rover 1 & 2, originally created for Softdisk by legendary developers John Carmack and John Romero, together in one package!
There’s something about your dog Rover that evil robots absolutely LOVE. It seems like every time you look away, those evil robots come around to steal Rover away to their underground hideout. You’ve lost count of how many times you’ve had to go down there, redirect lasers with giant mirrors, rearrange crates, create bridges, and unlock doors to find your beloved dog. Maybe one day those evil robots will cease their dognapping ways. Maybe. Probably not.
Enjoy this pair of whimsical and challenging grid-based action puzzle games where you, the loyal owner of a special dog named Rover, must repeatedly venture into the evil robots’ lair to rescue your stolen pup by foiling traps and mazes designed to keep Rover locked up. Lucky for you, the robots can be outsmarted. Unlucky for you, they’re persistent!

People think of id as kids who came together and just made Doom. People who actually play games know the early id Software shooters like Wolfenstein 3D, Catacomb 3-D, and Hovertank One. But id is a supergroup of industry professionals with a lot of shipped games made in a very short time. And one of their first achievements is solving platformers on pc. Old people in europe are fond of Dangerous Dave, old people in usa are fond of Commander Keen. Between those releases there was Rescue Rover with its known name, and the famous sprite of the dog. But it didn’t gain enough notoriety to be actually played (especially before the internet with torrents). These days if anyone digs it out, that is done in association with Doom, and probably not even the real doom, but the recent console post-action slop. Rescue Rover is an action puzzle game of the push the boxes Sokoban type. The goal is to find the dog an returnto the starting position. Some levels are purely logical puzzles, others demand a perfect execution against fast moving robots, including infinite range off-screen snipers and infinite range off-screen mobile snipers. Some levels are smaller, some are extremely long stretches o…3 found this helpful
For a kids' game this is actually pretty difficult :D , but still fun. Similar game(s): Chip's Challenge on Windows 3.xx Controller: yes Sound: Rescue Rover 1 - pc speaker, Rescue Rover 2 - Adlib (similiar to Commander Keen sounds) Just a side note: the release date says 2021. There really should be a 'Steam' release date and an original release date (which is 1991 for this game).2 found this helpful
