About RuneClick

What is RuneClick?

RuneClick is a desktop overlay RPG that turns your daily computer use into character progression. A pixel art medieval character lives on your screen and reacts to your real keyboard and mouse input. Type an email, he chops a tree. Click through a spreadsheet, he mines ore. Close your laptop, he does nothing. Every keystroke is progress. Every click counts.

The Grind is Real

Fourteen skills. Three gathering, three production, two utility, and six combat stats. Everything connects. Woodcutting fuels Smithing and Cooking. Mining supplies the whole chain. Fletching makes the arrows you shoot, Runecraft makes the runes you cast. You gather raw materials, turn them into gear and food, fight for the rarest drops, and work toward whatever you want to be. Level cap is 99 per skill. XP keeps counting after that. Maxing it all out takes hundreds of hours. That's by design.

Fight Back

Pick a style and go. Melee for raw damage and survivability, with four stances that shape which stats you train. Ranged for safe pressure, firing arrows you fletched yourself. Magic for burst power, casting spells fueled by runes you crafted from essence. The combat triangle matters. Bring the right style to the right fight or pay for it.Twenty-four enemies span goblins to dragons to the Abyssal Lord himself. Boss fights have phases and shifting weaknesses. Their loot tables hold the best gear in the game, including the full Dragon armor set, the Elder Staff, the Elder Shortbow, and four tiny pet versions of the toughest things you've killed.

Gear Up

Forge tools that make you gather faster. Smith full armor sets across six metal tiers. Craft leather and dragonhide for Ranged. Stitch robes for Magic. Cook food that boosts your XP and grants poison on hit. Cut gems into jewelry with passive bonuses. Save your favorite loadouts as one of four gear presets and swap between skilling, melee, ranged, and magic with a click. Every upgrade is something you built from materials you earned.

It Lives on Your Desktop

RuneClick isn't a window you switch to. It's a transparent overlay that sits on top of your taskbar while you work, browse, or play other games. Click through it. Drag it anywhere. Scale it up or down. It launches with Windows, saves automatically, and never steals focus. It's a companion, not a distraction.

Mod Everything

Add new skills, items, and recipes with simple JSON files. Want full control? Write GDScript mods with access to every system in the game. Share your creations on Steam Workshop. A complete template mod with an example skill is included to get you started.

This is an excellent idler game, especially if you work at a desk. Even if you don't, it's a fun little interactive desktop game that has a TON of potential. It's neat to work all day with this thing going and check back and see that you've typed over 30k keystrokes/clicks in a single day. I do like the template mod, and have some ideas when I get the time to work on a few additional skills. I do wonder if the existing skills can be modified in some capacity. It would be really cool to get random nests from woodcutting, that could be used for a future herblore skill. Herblore could require herbs that you farm for, from seeds that you steal. This would introduce several skills and help switch up from chopping 25k maples or mining 15k silver striaght. This is no knock to the existing content of the game, I think that this can only get better from here!

A very well made desktop companion game that has runs smoothly and is lite on system resources. The interface is very clean and the incremental feature is well thought out. I find it very convenient that every time i click or press a key, my character gains experience and the game advances. Highly Recommended!
