WAY WAYYYY too much dialogue. Everyone you meet has a long soliloquy they're just dying to perform for you. Lots of dialogue in a game is not always a bad thing IF the dialogue is relevant to the game or tasks you'll be doing. But most of the talking is just nonsense and has very little to do with the game. An excessive amount of movie and TV references. One of the monologues by a secondary character is about how Dwight from the (US) Office was a great guy. Totally meaningless if you aren't a fan of that awful show. (The UK Office blows it away). Lots of Star Wars & Indiana Jones references for no particular reason. This developer must be a real fan of old games because we are also treated to references to Grim Fandango & Leisure Suit Larry. Not a bad thing, but it goes way overboard when we are forced to listen to another character play the original Police Quest for about 5 full minutes (no exaggeration). He dies several times, but Scott Whiskers continues to stand there listening to him play. I skipped through most of it and it still took up almost 3 minutes. Totally useless. Here is my dilemma: I can’t in good conscience recommend [i]Scott Whiskers[/i] without caveats, but I can’t "not" recommend it either. Consider this as an [b]informational[/b] review with a thumbs up given in good faith, hopeful for improvements in future projects. It’s all true: the game features some of the most long-winded, drawn-out walls of text I’ve ever encountered in my life of gamer. Much of the script consists of fan talk about movies and TV Shows: The Office, Star Wars, and whatever else the developer is passionate about watching on Netflix, I guess, constantly dropped into conversations without rhyme or reason, burying potential clues or story bits in an ocean of filler. It's also true: the graphics are just decent, with geometry and perspective visibly off. HOWEVER, keep reading if you please: Scott Whiskers has a heart as massive as the walls of text aforementioned. It is evident that this was a labor of love and that the developer had so much fun creating the story, that he couldn't bring himself to stop writing. This game is rough is so many aspects, but the thing that is does right is probably the most important part of an adventure game and that is the puzzles. Most of them seem well thought out and logical, to the point they can be in a game like this. I'm not usually one to complain about dialogue, but its reliance on borrowing humor from other point and click properties is very, very clear, and the fourth wall breaking is very cringy and really take you out the the game. I will say that I hated the dialogue for 80% of the game, it was too long, too repetitive and just meandered around the point with a lot of attempted humor that didn't land for me. I was trying to play a game and I had to listen to a 10 minutes conversation about someone making a computer game. Luckily, the dialogue is skippable, for the most part, and toward the end, I was making heavy use of the skip button. Overall, I think this game had a nice story and good puzzles, locations, etc. If you really enjoy point and click adventure games and want to hear numerous references and jokes related to the genre, it might be worth a play.

Excellent old school point and click game! Puzzles are challenging, but possible to solve without a walkthrough. Super endearing and family friendly.
