What the heck did I just read? I have no idea. The whole thing felt very cyclical and pointless. Could be a translation issue, but I doubt it. There was a scrolling wall of text part way through that was completely in Russian, so that was swell. And to top it off, clicking Help results in a Ren'Py error and watching the credits in a premature ending route crashes the game. What a waste of time.

Cool art style and direction, however the story was not it. It was hard to understand due to English translation but even the contents of the story feel completely pointless/nonsensical for the most part.

Scriptur is not a game, it's an e-book that's been dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through badly written dialogue that would never have been accepted or published in print, which poses the question, "How did something this badly written end up on Steam?". When someone hoping to become an author is unable to get published in print, they spend $100 and dump their high school fan-fiction onto Steam, under the guise of a game. This is a badly translated Russian e-book that eschews the normal Steam e-book formula (a high school anime club dropout fan-fiction about the authors imaginary girlfriend) and instead tackles the issues of an amnesiac Russian man on a train. If that sounds like this could therefore be interesting, you are wrong. It's garbage. And boring. And badly translated. It's a very interesting game First and foremost, the game's strongest suit are the aesthetics. The artstyle looks very unique and it fits the vibe of the story. This plus the fact that all of it takes place on a train window creates an amazing atmosphere. The story is difficult, that's the best way to say it. It's not easy to understand, but it's not impossible either, and I myself came up with a couple of different interpretations. It feels hard yet simple at the same time. The game only takes about an hour to complete, and despite the fact that it may be unclear at times, it's amazing that it manages to tell the whole tale within such a short time. I personally really enjoyed the storytelling, but I can see how others would dislike it. The biggest issue with the game is that it's just generally kind of scuffed. The text doesnt fit inside the text box, the menu screen can get easily bugged, and then there's the biggest problem so far - the translation. Sadly the writing just sounds like it was put through google translate. Some smaller parts of the story are fully incomprehensible because of that, but if you're able to put your critical thinking to use and make some assumptions…
