So far so good. Agree with most of the reviews, especially with in depth HOS. A real pet peeve is the mailbox flag lock fallacy. Mailbox flags are used to tell the postman there is mail to be picked up. It does NOT lock the mailbox! Boy do I hate that. One reviewer gave a negative review and mentioned the Jack O Lantern puzzle was unsolvable. I also thought the same thing, but an unmentioned item needed a second step before solving. This occurs game wide. EDIT: Updated points... Fish item not being granted near the end. A very shoddy counter intuitive puzzle grants it. Ironically another fish based puzzle is also counter intuitive. Several HOS have no indication of some hidden items. On advanced difficulty you are basically screwed. Thank you YT. Found another translation issue perhaps. "You had better try something else". That is basically a threat in western culture. Just odd. Some areas of the game were quite shoddy. Yes still a positive a review but barely.

Could not complete game as once I got to the fisherman's hut, completed the hidden object puzzle, and partially cleaned the lock on the chest, there appeared to be nothing further I could do. Hint system failed to work, and no further items to complete appeared on the map. I suspect after the hidden object puzzle the wooden fish is supposed to be added to your inventory and isn't. I'd be madder if I hadn't paid $0.74 for this, but save your quarters and get a different game that lets you finish it.

Story was stupid and straight up painful at times but lets be honest, no one plays HOG for the story. The puzzles were okay. They did some interesting things to shake up some puzzles that you see in pretty much every HOG which made it interesting but I had to close out of the game after every cut scene or the next one would just be a black screen. If you get it for cheap on sale (like I did) then its an okay way to spend a few hours but if you are looking for the best HOGs have to offer, look pretty much anywhere else.

The second "Hidden Object" game I've played in my entire life after "Sea Legends: Phantasmal Light". So it holds nostalgic value to me. At that time, this was a fun experience. I genuinely enjoyed myself. So when I saw this on Steam at a good discount, I didn't hesitate to get it ... And I kind of regret my purchase. The steam port was not well-made. Most of the cutscenes don't work for some reason, displaying a dark screen with dialogue playing in the back. The diary entries get unlocked in an uncohesive order. [i]For example : As the MC, how am I supposed to write my thoughts about the nanny when I haven't even given her what she seeks ? And she wasn't the only character ...[/i] Interactions are sometimes locked for some reason. You would spot the hidden object on the list, click on it, nothing would happen, click on the hint system to point you exactly towards the item you've already spotted, only this time it's clickable. Was this supposed to prevent a quick progression or something ? Or is it just a bug ? The story was ... Lackluster. The premise is so interesting, but the execution was weak. I really like the game, but there seems to be some bugs. Especially with the party scene and the end scene, i just got blackscreen there. Also some coloured words in the HOS are not right. Still a really nice game, that doesnt seem to have subtittle sadly. The style is nice and the mechanic with the board is something i always love in HIOs. All in one i really liked the game. It is a bit pricey though. 15 bucks would be the max id buy it for. Apart from that i can really highly recommend it.

When I was a kid, loved playing this game but I don't think I ever got to finish it. The only puzzle I skipped was the dessert sudoku - otherwise it was all good. Good for it's time, it's outdated but that's understandable. 8/10 shadows.
