About Shattered Heaven

Shattered Heaven combines card games and roguelikes to make a single-player deck builder with RPG elements, dungeon crawling, and a multi-branch narrative structure.

Shattered Heaven focuses on a card game/roguelike gameplay fueled by a great replay value, thanks to procedural dungeons, a deep crafting system, and a gripping narrative influenced by players’ choices.

The game features a unique 2d cartoon style, with dark fantasy and Lovecraftian flavor, and an epic soundtrack with opera singers.

  • Dynamic Deckbuilding – Build your starting decks (three of them, one for each of your heroes) as you wish and customize them by drafting new ones during each run, for an ever different experience.
  • Tactical RPG Fights – Slay epic monsters in procedurally generated dungeons and loot valuable treasures! Improve your equipment and enhance your strategy thanks to a deep Skill tree system.
  • Story branching – A game with an ambitious branching narrative, where your decisions not only determine the fate of the main characters but that of the entire world.
  • Unique mechanics – Each character features completely different mechanics and ways to fight, which can be further customized through trinkets and the skill tree.
  • Innovative Crafting system – Use treasures and recipes you find inside the dungeons to create and upgrade potions, weapons, and amulets.
  • Pick your poison – Choose a difficulty and a special effect that changes every time at the start of each dungeon and earn black bones used to improve characters at the dark forge.

A betrayal, a dying God
An ancient curse, a divine punishment.
A forsaken world suspended in time and buried in ashes.

In a nameless world, only a few survived the fall of God. Living in a hostile environment and feeding on what their barren land had to offer, four factions are bound to fight each other for survival. Victims of a terrible curse, these populations are condemned to sleepless nights, infertility, and doomed to die at the age of 40.

The only way to break the curse is to offer a Vestal, and a team of valiant warriors, as a sacrifice for a ritual lost in time: a bloody and harsh battle known as the War of Ascension.

Which faction will be able to win and secure the survival of their species? You decide!

Shattered Heaven does it's job both good and bad. Firstly, the story. I feel like there's a deep background and there's a ton of backstory but 7 hours in and I'm just beginning to get it. It's one of those times when beginning in medias res was probably not a good idea. I'd like to know more about why Andora is the way she is before embarking in a long adventure with her. I'm still not even sure what's going on. Game doesn't do a good job telling you about things available to you. You get a new card you could put in your deck but nothing really tells you that you did. It's confusing because after every battle you may draft a card, but these cards are only temporary for your mission. I wish there were a few more selections for characters. Just the 3 begins to feel a bit repetitive after awhile. Buying from the Merchant is difficult because you don't know how much of that you have. You have to go to the sell side to see. This game doesn't do a great job pointing out that you have to make potions to use once during a dungeon. Great piano score for the opening theme! I have no idea if it is original or not though. Or who the composer is. Overall, the game plays nic…

I really wanted to like this one, the art, the dungeon style... but it just lacks in everything else that makes a deck builder good.. like.. the cards, the combos. Didn't refund, maybe they'll try again.

This is probably one of those titles content creators would try and insist is a hidden gem. Sadly, the game has way too many issues. The most glaring of which is despite being a deck builder, there's little reason to stray from certain cards or builds and you'll find yourself relying on most of the same cards throughout the game. Worse, combat forces you to dilute your deck by drafting cards from a neutral or adaptive card pool, without the option to skip, with a number of cards being way worse than what you started with. Dungeons are also pointless, usually bearing little no consequence save for prolonging the game. Absent areas which drain your hp for every few steps, the fact that you can choose which direction to go in a dungeon has little meaning. Most loot are garbage too, the alchemy system being half assed. The game is also terribly bugging, crashing or hanging multiple times throughout my playthrough. Despite the same, I did complete a run. While its core gameplay can't really save Shattered Heaven, it at least has an intriguing story and characters, despite the narrative was somewhat rushed in the dead. Even if you aren't fond of dialogue or cutscenes, playing through S…

At first I was a little disappointed, because I was expecting a roguelite deck builder. This game plays more lika a strategy card rpg with a few roguelite elements. But I decided to keep playing it anyway. The story is decent. Some plot points are expect, while others are a nice surprise. Their are obvious lesbians, but it doesn't push in your face. No "hey I'm lesbian, did you know?!" or pride flags. This part is very well done. Each dungeon and fight has special conditions which adds a bit of variety, and bosses evolve during the fight, so you actually have to pay attention to the changes. Overall it's a pretty solid game.

There's some real jank but also it's so heartfelt that it's easy to overlook the wonkiness. For example, this is a soulslike spirelike romantasy jrpg. That's too many buzzwords you need to put some of them back. Also, the core gameplay is a little monotonous, and a little bit incompletely explained. You won't know exactly how progression works or how the story branches until you're deep enough in that you've already made your mistakes (never leave a dungeon floor without having gotten all bonus objective orb rewards, reset if you have to.) Also, doing a spirelike as a slow paced conventional story campaign jrpg comes with some innate problems. The luck that can screw you in a spirelike has a way harder impact when you're playing one run ever 100% for keeps. It's to the game's credit that the things about it that are good are so good that I'm recommending it in spire of this clunky design, no guides, and the dev team having completely ghosted. First of all, the voice acting and directing is giving 110% on what *can't* have been that much of a budget. The lead is doing that shaky breathy low voiced barely contained anger traumatic past fmc thing and investing so much energy that…

I am utterly torn. Beyond its flawless aesthetics, the gameplay offers a lackluster and highly repetitive experience. There is no need to repeat what others have said—just buy with discretion.
