About Shattered Lights

✦ AI summary

Explore a nightmarish underground medical facility using only your flashlight and physical movement through a mind-bending non-euclidean world that responds to every real step you take. This roomscale VR horror experience strips away traditional controllers, forcing you to navigate impossible geometry and unspeakable horrors through pure embodied presence in your play space.

Shattered Lights is a one-of-a-kind, fully roomscale based VR horror game which takes you on a journey down a seemingly abandoned underground medical facility armed with nothing but a flashlight and your sanity.

Using non-euclidean geometry the game will immerse you into a world where every single step you take is purely physical and you’ll never once have to use controllers to move around, even so, you’ll still be able to explore intricate areas, impossible geometry and any situation that Shattered Lights will throw at you.

Do Note:

Shattered Lights requires a play area of at least 2m x 2m (6 feet and 7 inches). There’s an option to play within a smaller space of 1.5m x 1.5m, but this is not recommended as it makes for a less stable experience, which some may experience as unpleasant.

Definitely worth playing if you have a larger enough play space. Not a big fan of these old VR games that have no movement system, so if your play space isn't big enough you're out of luck. There's a reason that you don't see that much anymore. Still, for this one you can lower the play space to 1.5m by 1.5m, which is pretty reasonable so I could play the game without any difficulties. Had the requirements been a bit higher, I may've gotten stuck. The graphics and horror elements are solid. My one criticism is the way the story is handled. It seems like i was supposed to play tape players to get the game's lore, but only the first one seemed to respond to me. Maybe the others were decorative, but I get the feeling that I missed out on a lot of story detail because the game wouldn't let me interact with the tape players. Still, since the game is free, this is a very minor consideration. The game is worth playing for any fan of VR horror games.

I finally got around to playing this and I can't believe that it was free. It's very good. It's short but, I mean, it is free. The atmosphere is great and very creepy. They actually packed quite a bit in here for such a short game. I wish they would expand on this and make a full length game. I played on a Quest 3 and had no issues once I saw that you could adjust the play space in the game.

The game had some bugs here and there: no sound on start up, the world kept getting tilted, I got stuck in the walls twice and had to restart. It does build the horror atmosphere well enough. The jump scares did get me, especially that last one. But it triggered my motion sickness bad. Was okay and free.
