"Shepherds" is one of literally thousands of student projects infesting Steam. It's from University of Southern California in Southern California. While student projects tend to be better quality than most "amateur" made games, we must still question what value such projects have for gamers. As with all student projects, this isn't really a fully fleshed out game, it's just the result of an academic exercise, and as such it has much more limited value as a game than a professionally developed game would have. Educational institutions should not be using Steam as a dumping ground for homework assignments (especially if the students didn't even pass the course). Sure, it helps their marketing and helps the students feel good about themselves, but this is another case of a business putting themselves before the needs of gamers. This is an unusual 3D rendered top down co-op adventure puzzle game where the puzzles are solved with some musical gimmicks... But this isn't a full game, it's just a prototype for a game that was never, finished, never polished, massive breaking bugs never fixed, and the students thought it would be okay to dump this on Steam in an utterly broken and un…5 found this helpful
Completely unfinished... Softlocked multiple times and when I was playing through this with my friend, he did the voice acting live after hearing the intro cut-scene once (we had to restart due to a softlock), and he did an objectively better job than whoever did the voice acting here. Had to give up at the part where the characters enter the tower cuz the game wouldn't let us control one of the charactors. AGHHHHHHHH!! Also, the "continue button" doesnt work... 👴👴👴👴👴👴👴👴👴👴👴👴👴👴👴👴👴👴👴👴👴👴5 found this helpful
This game is crap. It's an unfinished buggy mess that definitely led the people who made it to fail their final. If it got updated I would change this review, but knowing how student games usually go, this will most likely never get updated again. The one upside to the game is the music and the intro cutscene which are pretty good. My friend and I got softlocked multiple times, and the continue button didn't work, making us restart multiple times. We gave up on completing this mess of a game, and decided to move on to different ones, knowing that any other game has more soul to it, more polish, and more heart. Good luck to these developers on making a less crappy game in the future.3 found this helpful
As the description notes it is an unpolished experimental prototype. Despite some issues it was very fun to play through the short game and would make for a fun full-fledged game to play with a friend.1 found this helpful
Took like 30 minutes to get it working, not for one second did we play without experiencing bugs. Had to stop when the wolf (me) glitched into the ground and got stuck in a loop of respawning and dying (ouchhhhhh). not very good but i did laugh1 found this helpful
