"Shiki" is a somewhat poorly made 2.5D point and click adventure where you help out a boy who becomes the keeper of a small, barren star, touching the memories of those who lived there, which doesn't make a lot of sense, but then we shouldn't expect too much. Narrative aside, the technical delivery is incredibly weak and was a leading cause of this product failing. What do you do in the game? Walk around, point and click through a few puzzles, get bombarded with poorly written, endless VR text because the developer didn't understand the "Show, don't tell" axiom of game development. This features really godawful pixelcrap "art" textures on low poly assets, instead of real graphics. It's hard to say if this was because the developer didn't have the skill to do the job of creating 3D visuals, or couldn't afford to hire someone who does, but it also doesn't matter. What matters is that this looks much worse than most other games because of that decision, and that's a major deterrent to gamers. So sad that not many people know about this game. The plot, the game mechanics, the art style, everything is nicely done. My only complaint would be the absence of achievemets (and also yeah... the english translation lmao). There are some secret scenes but I don't know how many there are, achievements for each one of them would really help, that way I would know if I missed something TTTT

short and sweet and a little sad but i really like the message behind it. i enjoyed it a lot!
