About Shut your teeth
The cat is dead; its tail fell off.
Whoever speaks will eat it all.
Forty heaps of severed lips,
Forty pails of dirty nails,
The quiet game has started.
Now, please. Shut your teeth.
A quiet game rhyme.
A young man named Alexey comes to spend the winter in Thailand despite financial trouble. The condominium in which he rented an apartment (solely because of the low price) is located in the middle of nowhere and turns out to be a real hellhole. When our hero begins to suspect that seemingly innocent children play creepy games and that friendly neighbors are up to no good, it's already too late. His former classmate will have to sort out all the mess: the poor guy just wants to pick up the money Alexey owes him but unwittingly finds himself drawn into a series of cryptic events that will change his life forever.

The legend of Kuman Thong originates in the sixteenth century from a Thai warrior who lived in the Ayutthaya era. It was the man named Khun Phaen who created the first kuman thong in a black magic ritual. To do so, he extracted an unborn baby from the womb of his wife, whom he'd killed for trying to poison him. And so, the first golden boy was born — a powerful spirit possessing the ability to grant wishes and protect its owner. In some rural areas, Thai people still believe that stillborns can be used to produce magic amulets.
The plot of «Shut your teeth» visual novel is rooted in sinister Thai folk beliefs, Kuman Thong (which means «Golden Boy») being the central topic.
Before I played Shut your teeth, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
3 found this helpful
If you're a fan of weird as hell visual novels like 428 Shibuya Scramble or Zero Escape, you'll enjoy this one! It's not a game as much as it is a story: there's only two decision points in the entire thing. But it's a well written story with interesting characters and I was definitely engrossed in it! The ending (spoilers)
was a pleasant surprise, to find out that it wasn't to do with the curse after all. Poor Kolya!!! That kid deserves so much better.
Overall, if you've got a free evening and you like creepy stories for the ~vibes~, I'd recommend this! It was a lot of fun to try and solve the mystery as I went through the game, and the dual timeline was a super interesting mechanic. Sound novels are pretty rare to come across, so I was pleasantly surprised to find this!1 found this helpful
Interesting story, enjoyed reading it. There aren't really any choices in it, so don't go into this expecting a "choose your own adventure" game, but the story itself is interesting and did end up coming back to the game to find out how it ends, so if you're into visual novels and learning about (thai) folklore, this is worth a play through.1 found this helpful
What a dark and brilliant visual novel. With its perfect price point and excellent quality (in terms of the backgrounds, actors faces, OST, and writing), this is sure to become a VN I highly recommend to any fans of the genre. Shut Your Teeth is a kinetic visual novel about Russian tourists in Thailand. I would say that it is fairly close to the idea of magical realism. Honestly, I find myself not wanting to say much. The strength of this visual novel has two sources. The first is its multifaceted characters that have both strong positive and negative qualities. The second is the novels ability to use subtext to tell the reader what has happened or what will happen. The author respects your intelligence and never feels the need to point out the obvious. I managed to predict most things, but the primary, final twist surprised me entirely, while still making sense in the context of the overall story. Overall, this novel presents a compelling set of mysteries.1 found this helpful
Awesome tension and character building. Learnt a lot about Thai culture and mythology. A bit hard to push through but so worth finishing.
