Sim World

You know a game is good when even in the trailer it runs (yes pun intended) with 12 FPS. Surprisingly it actually runs just fine, but it is boring, ugly and feels unfinished. Instead of playing this game just go run IRL, lose some fat, see some sun, gain some stamina and have lots more fun than playing this game.

Sim World is not a game. Games contain meaningful gamelike interaction and game loops, which are absent in this software. Instead of being a game, Sim World is a software application that is not a game. It's a game launcher. Yes, some genius thought the best way to publish his Steam competitor was... on Steam. As if it was a game, and not in the software section. For those unfamiliar with what actually makes something a game, a "game loop" describes the interaction and feedback a gamer has when playing a game. Tetris, for example, has a game loop where a random block appears, the gamer interacts with the block to position it, and then the game decides if that finishes a row or not, increases the players score if any rows were completed, then gives the gamer another block to position. Counter-Strike has a game loop where a player seeks another player, tests their skill against that player by shooting them or being shot, the computer rewards the player if they win, and then if the player survives, they repeat that loop. So the game is very unfinished, the points aren't set correct on the middle distance (which is a very big deal). The MTB-O mechanics are very bad and sluggish, but was impressed that it was even added. The smaller path on which the 2nd point should be in the middle distance doesn't exist. The path sizing is all the same even if it isn't on the map. The running speed is unrealistic as I completed the 2,1km distance in 2:27 min. The render of the map is decent, but still needs to be worked on (has some holes). The path by the meadow shouldn't connect to the road I think ( Although it is hard to see if it's a contour to the meadow or is it the path.) I am happy that there are people willing to make orienteering games, but this one needs to be worked on more.
