He will interrogate each of the 10 unusual suspects, using his keen deduction skills to determine who among them may have the most to gain from Walter Jones's death.

I love the atmosphere initially but it quickly feels redundant after awhile. For those not familiar with the Sokal’s previous games Sinking Island can probably be skipped. But for those that are willing to overlook the faults and truly enjoy the process of figuring out just what is going on in Sinking Island it is reasonably priced enough to warrant trying out.7 found this helpful

A point and click detective game that embroils you into the affairs of the Jones family as you are summoned to a tropical island, in the middle of nowhere, right before a hurricane hits. As the story progresses you find that it's NOT only the foundation of the tower that's crumbling and falling apart. Greed, Lust, Revenge, Murder, Jealousy, Gambling, sexual affairs, and the rampant desires of an 89 Yr old man for a 20 yr old island girl add to this sordid tale. You will have to use your wits and gather clues, statements of the eleven people stuck on the island, all of whom could be responsible for MURDER! Gather material evidence and sort through the lies, and backstabbing as you try to weave your way towards the responsible party. The story-line for this game is exceptional, it is a classic, guess and then guess again who-done-it. The Artwork for the island and the sound effects of the the tower, which you end up stranded in, falling apart is atmospheric and in its own way, kind of scary. The only REAL issues I have with this game is the character movement animation especially during the conversations, and there is an absolute ton of them, you'll have to talk …
If you are a fan of Benoît Sokal, you will find his usual beautiful art and atmosphere in Sinking Island. You will not find compelling characters, a gripping story, or thoroughly engaging gameplay. Sinking Island is a detective game, where you are brought in to solve a murder mystery on a near-deserted tropical island on which a billionaire has created a luxury resort hotel for some reason. You will need to interview the man's family members who are on the island, collect clues, and piece those testimonies and clues together to solve deductions. It is a very slow game, where you will be retracing your steps a lot and hearing the same questions asked to each person over and over again. This could be an enjoyable experience, except that it is let down by how the game proceeds. I had a lot of trouble keeping the cast of characters straight in my head, which could have been resolved by placing their name on the screen when you are talking to them. There are various deductions that you need to solve throughout the game, which do not have very obvious combinations of clues that you need to put together. The game also never clears out your inventory of clues as the game proceeds, …
Strange and bad but I do love what it's trying to do, and I love the decaying art deco in paradise aesthetic. I just wish anything about the story or gameplay stood out!
