About Skyfish Rising

Skyfish Rising is a run-n-gun 2D cartoony platformer that features tons of enemies and bosses! After over a decade, Skyfish has returned with a new entry in the series, and old foes may appear in this wacky not-so-normal romp!!

A long time ago, Skyfish, an original character, fought the forces of parody and became lost in the zone of checkerboard. Now over 10 years later, he's found his way out, but the New Parody Order has taken over the world with their original and unoriginal wacky designs for the entire world.

Skyfish can shoot bubbles to blow up enemies as well as run n' jump just like the old school platform games. Skyfish is a taste of old school retro gameplay with new types of enemies, environments, and fun. You'll be able to warp through over 4 unique zones to defeat the forces of evil and save the world from obscure artform.

✦ AI summary

Skyfish Rising is a quirky, challenging platformer that players appreciate for its goofy charm, solid gameplay, and respectable difficulty, with particular praise for its animations and humorous moments. The main complaints center on a couple of brutally difficult bosses and the lack of a save feature, which requires committing a full hour-plus session to complete the game. Overall, players recommend it for those who enjoy eccentric platformers and don't mind a stiff challenge, though newcomers should be prepared for some frustration.

Skyfish rises from his eternal slumber to bless us with another GEM in the series, Skyfish Rising. What you will get is yet another deranged platformer with returning characters from the series and an incomprehensible story. Recommended for Skyfish fans and those who enjoy goofy platformers. NOTES: - Does not have a save feature so you will want to be sure you have an hour or so set aside to play, as it takes about 40-60 minutes to beat depending on your gamer skill level. - Two bosses in particular can be difficult to slay. For these bosses, pay very close attention to their movement which is repeated, and on one of the bosses pay very close attention to the sound for a cue...

PROS: It's weird lol, playing this while sleep deprived was an...experience for sure, I found some animations to be funny (skyfish blinking, the green...spinning guy on rollerskates, the white egg things walking) I found sonic references to be charming aswell, as avid sonic enjoyer seeing metal sonic-like fight from sonic 2 was fun. I liked most of bosses too, but some are uhh...I'm gonna touch on that later. Some moments had me dead...like (SPOILER) anus world coming from literally nowhere, i said out loud "WTH?" (do not worry, it isn't graphic) and i mean that in good way, but if you're going to make something serious next time I wouldn't include things like that, chaos cease and desist gag also gave me chuckle. This was surprisingly long too, it took me around 1.5 hour, for reference this is amount of time it takes me to get to death egg zone in sonic 2. Now... CONS. Artstyle is...all over the place, yeah sorry. But one moment you have pixel art coins then hand drawn enemies and terrain in different style, things start looking bit weird, there is one important rule when it comes to any kind of art:be consistent, there is reason why for instance VVVVVV works, it has artst…

Beyond the goofiness, I actually really enjoyed myself. The game's simple and presents a respectable challenge, I love it for what it is, except for one boss I won't mention who. They know who they are. I couldn't put it down until I beat it, and thank goodness its forgiving with lives. Great job!
