[h1]When you're looking for a cozy HOG with a bit of challenging, competitive gameplay. XD[/h1] [h2]Introduction[/h2] [i]Solnest[/i] is a cozy, hidden object game developed and published by Gallic Entertainment. You're introduced to a solarpunk-themed building, and your objective is to find all of the cute cats that are hidden in nine environmentally friendly rooms as well as the garden and rooftop. There are four difficulty levels: relaxed (no timer), chill (10 minutes), moderate (6 minutes), and hardcore (3 minutes). Regardless of the difficulty mode, in each room, the usual gameplay functions for HOGs are present, such as the zoom function via scrolling the mouse wheel and a hint function in the form of a magnifying glass that needs a bit of time to recharge after being used. You can play solo, co-op, and/or PvP. A cozy, relaxing soundtrack is available, and Steam achievements are obtainable, but they won't count towards a user's global total until the game is out of "Steam is learning about this game". Nice game, however the cat noises are irritating and the achievements make NO sense. Pleasant with sound down.

Thank you so much to Gallic Entertainment for giving me the opportunity to play this game! Hidden cat games are absolutely in my "wheelhouse" and I think this is a great entry into the genre. If you play or are a fan of this genre, you pretty much know what to expect here. There are detailed scenes with little cats scattered throughout that you click to "find". There isn't much of a challenge in finding most of them (until those last handful of kitties it seems!) but - if you're like me - you don't play these kinds of games for challenge anyhow. I play these games as a way to decompress when I've had a stressful day or I'm particularly anxious. Focusing on the simple task of finding the kitties and clicking them while enjoying some cute art is a great way to refocus my mind. This game has the setting of Solar Punk, which I quite enjoyed (lots of plants!). It also has four levels of difficulty, the only difference between any of them is an added timer. There is no timer on the base level "relax" difficulty. There are stickers you unlock with each beat stage (and each new difficulty of that stage provides a new unlocked sticker). It's a cute game and I like the stickers but the zoom in and out visuals are really weird and take a while, there's no way to know what level you've completed which is really annoying. It only takes around 30 mins to completed all the levels too so I think for a game that can be finish in less than a hour (non achievement hunting) it shouldn't be the price it is.

I've been spending time finding cats in this game, and I have to say, I'm really impressed! The environments are very well designed and detailed; you can tell that the developers cared about every part of the map. It's not just a game where you have to find something, it's a work of art. Some things that stood out to me: 1. The Leaderboard: I really like the competitive edge. Seeing my name rise and knowing I've broken other people's records gives me a special kind of satisfaction. 2. The Magnifying Glass: This is a huge help. It works so well that it helps you narrow down the search area when you're stuck without making it feel like "cheating." One piece of advice: I have to say that some of the cats are so well hidden that they look like they aren't there at all! But I really like that because it makes the game harder and makes the last "aha!" moment much more satisfying. Overall, it was a great time for anyone who likes hidden objects. Keep up the good work!
