i think this game is fun. its a rouge-like. its a cool sci-fi theme. it feels like an old text adventure. starting a new run is easy so when you fail (and you will) you can start a new run easily. that's the problem though constant immediate failure. i had multiple run just end within seconds. no warning. no way i could have prepared better. every attempt to run from unwinnable fights or dangerous situations resulted in death. every single time. the run that prompted this was one where i started, chose an option that had me searching a room and running into space satan with scary looking uber stats who proceeded to kill me in two hits with my attempts at running being laughably futile. there's a difference between a game being challenging and a game just killing you repeatedly until you get a luck series of breaks. this doesn't feel like a challenge. it doesn't feel like i can improve over time or learn the game better. i just need to be lucky. constantly. its not fun seeing a fail screen over and over and over with no way to personally affect that. this game is you rolling dice over and over with a gun to your head and a voice telling you roll 6 or die. and its that seemingly for…

Decent little choose your own adventure story. Good world building. Felt difficult at first but once i discovered the ability to use food to heal it invalidated a lot of the difficulty later on as it was not a very scarce resource. If an encounter couldn't kill me in one hit it was not going to kill be at all. You can get an ending or two in an afternoon.

great game tho, i really like the way it's presented. it's heavily RNG and stat based, cause either you're way underlevel and unlucky or you can just pass over every enemy without getting hit and oneshoting them. it's fine, prolly one of my best buys. hopefully they add mod support or something to get a long-run appeal.

Buggy, very easy to end up to end up in situations where buttons do nothing and you're unable to progress.

This game is bugged. I spent a while learning how to survive in this game. Then I quit the game. When I came back and selected continue, it took me to the camp screen, where clicking 'move on' takes you to the next day and continues with game. However, clicking done repeats the same screen, and my run is permanently stuck on this camp screen. I'm not playing this game any more. **** this game.

Songs of Rats is a dark, narrative-driven roguelike RPG developed by Tesseract Games and published by Salient Games. The game places players in a bleak science-fiction world where the remnants of civilization survive among the ruins of a once-advanced society. Rather than presenting a conventional heroic adventure, the game frames its story around survival, decay, and the fragile persistence of humanity in an unforgiving environment. With its mixture of roguelike exploration, text-driven storytelling, and atmospheric worldbuilding, Songs of Rats aims to deliver a contemplative and often unsettling journey through a labyrinthine world known as the Wreckland. The setting of the game is one of its most compelling aspects. Humanity now lives like scavengers among the broken remains of ancient megastructures, derelict starships, and forgotten technology. These ruins form a shifting maze referred to as the Wreckage, a mysterious environment filled with dangers, secrets, and fragments of lost history. Players assume the role of a wanderer who ventures into this dangerous labyrinth in search of resources, knowledge, and perhaps some trace of meaning in a dying world. The narrative unfolds…
