R.A.T.: Human Error – Episode One

R.A.T.: Human Error: Episode One is a surprisingly unsettling little horror adventure, and I liked how quickly it pulled me into its strange underground world. I play as a sick child trapped inside a hidden facility after a catastrophe has devastated the surface, with the only clear goal being to escape and find my mother. The story gives me just enough information to make me curious without explaining everything immediately. The exploration is the main focus, with me moving through the decaying facility, checking rooms, reading clues and interacting with strange characters. I liked how the game makes the environment itself part of the mystery. Almost every area feels like it has something being hidden from me, and the conversations are often just as important as the physical things I discover. The vent sections are probably the most memorable mechanic. They turn into maze like passages filled with darkness, creatures and branching routes, which makes navigating them surprisingly tense. I liked the idea because getting lost becomes part of the horror instead of just being an inconvenience. It creates a feeling that the facility is much larger and more dangerous than it first appe…

Super fun so far!! The story is really interesting and I LOVE the art style. I hope we hear about the next chapter soon!

I am SUUUPPERRR excited to see where this game goes, the art is so cool and I really like the style used in the game. The concept is really awesome too, I really like games set in post apocalyptic settings and its even better when it focuses on the people instead of the politics. The puzzles are nice and the vent sections I HEAVILY struggled with but that's just because if I ever go into a corn maze I think I would die of hunger because I would get so lost that I'd lose the corn in the corn maze. The opening section and the dialog with Obu and maprat really stuck with me, but Obu especially. I cant put into words how profound his words were and how painfully relevant it all seems. Its so easy to understand and the way it was presented truly felt like an old family member sitting you down and giving a speech that sticks with you for the rest of your life. Also the rats and the jokes are neat. PEAK GAME

Very well done experience where everything comes together nicely. Piecing the narrative together through fragments, the charming illustrations, exploring the maze-like environment, all made me end up wondering about what happened in this world and what will happen to Brie in the hopefully next episodes.

Starting the game very exciting, since I've seen about it on social media before and wish listed it since. It looked very promising and interesting. It is interesting, the story itself is something I enjoy reading about, the characters all seems cool and I really like the art style and art direction. Unfortunately, the vents system made me stop playing. I didn't finish the game, because the vents just made it... unplayable to an extent. They are too long, no map other than the rat, but i expected that map to be always with me on the screen, and you go from a vent to another and lose yourself in the process and never make progress.. Maybe making the vents a bit shorter and a better map system would be improving the game. As I said, story wise it's cool, but the vents break it too much.
