I like the transitions, I like the environmental art. I like the feeling of a timed escape room. I dislike how the characters speak to each other. They speak with modern lingo/vernacular/slang but they are meant to be in a fantasy dragon world without technology. The bickering between some of them just read like sexual harassment immature teenagers would do who try to make everything into a penis/sex joke to get a rise out of others. Across the board, they sure are suspicious for a bunch of people who don’t remember really even who they are. Feels like a visual novel of “Among Us” where the first hour ish is just everyone accusing everyone else of being the villain behind the bad situation- in this case, a trapped amnesiac state. As a het woman, I went after the only male character that isn’t drawn like a child. And then I got the bad ending before I hardly even got to know him, leaving me wondering if I even care to find out why. Is the one love interest I want to get to know worth the rest of it? I’m not much for a mystery story like this, so probably not.

Every route reveals more of the story. Their method of locking certain routes until you have enough information allowed you to gradually unlock the truth. With each new route it felt like peeling another layer of complexity. I loved all of the characters for different reasons and discovered a greater appreciation after fully completing their route. Overall, I loved unravelling the truth of these stories and I believe this game is worth 20 dollars. My biggest complaint is that these characters were limited to this game. I wish we could explore more of their future or even their lives before the memory loss in another game or book or movie. I would take anything to see them again. Works on mac. (achievements only unlock after the ending sequence)

Soul Set is a mystery/romance visual novel released in 2016. This game screams nostalgia in a good way! The main goal of the game is to avoid death while unraveling mysteries and getting to know the characters you're trapped with. You can romance both male and female characters. Overall, I enjoyed playing Soul Set. It gave me a feeling of nostalgia for early 2010 games. There wasn't anything I could say I particularly dislike. There are good and bad aspects of the writing. While overall good, there are moments of conversation that I personally felt flowed a bit strangely. This really only happened in Shira's and ||Shirr's|| routes during the best ending. And there are so many mysteries and bits of information throughout the game! I felt overwhelmed at some points. But, I did enjoy the story overall. I did feel weird about other characters coupling up with each other outside of their routes? Not that I was against it, but when I would play those character's routes afterwards, I felt a bit bad breaking them up. The art overall was nice, but I wish Apris and Feathor would have had nicer cgs. The female characters seemed to have the nicest ones. The soundtrack was nice and fit the ga…
