This DLC is a kind reminder that project managers and game developers should NOT take drugs while designing story for a game.

Literally the only spellforce game I won't finish because of the bugs and horrendous design. I genuinely wish the developers would stop making games

Terrible game! Nothing comparable to SpellForce: The Order of Dawn (2003) or even SpellForce 2: Shadow Wars (2006). Abominable story, amateur script, amateur dialogues, cutscenes with weird camera angles and a lost narrative flow, throwing the player into countless sidequests with no real meaning for the plot. Graphics show no evolution from the previous versions. The new race, the Nameless, doesn’t even make visual sense according to the concept design of the other races. Everything is wrong. It feels like the game is pretending there’s something interesting to do, deceiving the player with more than it can actually deliver. This entire game feels like a fraud, created by someone who never understood what a fun RTS/RPG truly is or what the SpellForce franchise represents to gamers. Even with SpellForce: The Order of Dawn (2003) having all its flaws — many of them understandable for the time it was released and the engine used — it's still an extremely cohesive, coherent, and sensible game from every perspective, especially narrative and visual. This one is a fraud! For fans of the franchise who want to force themselves to consume everything just to understand the official direc…

SpellForce 2: Demons of the Past is a large-scale fantasy strategy RPG that attempts to conclude the long-running SpellForce saga through a mixture of real-time strategy warfare, character-driven role-playing mechanics, and expansive worldbuilding. Developed by Mind Over Matter Studios and published by THQ Nordic, the game continues the series’ signature formula of blending RTS gameplay with RPG progression, allowing players to command armies while simultaneously developing heroes, exploring fantasy regions, and participating in a story filled with political conflict, ancient powers, and supernatural threats. While the game is undeniably ambitious and packed with content, it also struggles with technical instability, inconsistent pacing, and several outdated design choices that prevent it from fully reaching its potential. The story takes place after the events of previous SpellForce entries and revolves around the growing threat posed by the demon lord Zazhut and the collapse of stability across the world of Eo. Players take control of a Shaikan elder who becomes entangled in a desperate effort to unite fractured factions and prevent total destruction. The narrative focuses heavi…

Time to roll up your chainmail sleeves, sharpen your magic sword, and decide the fate of the planet Eo! Just finished the last part of the SpellForce 2 saga: Demons of the Past, in short :) Disclaimer This is a review of the latest SpellForce 2 story expansion, so I’m focusing only on what’s different from previous releases. If you want a more detailed review of another parts of this game please look for my reviews on the thier respective pages. Overall Impression The penultimate part, Faith in Destiny, was utter crap—both design-wise, narrative-wise, and technically—so I approached this one with a lot of caution. In the end, the game left me with mixed feelings. On one hand, most of the screw-ups were fixed. Not completely, not perfectly, but enough that you can actually play without nervously waiting for some technical bug to ruin all the fun. On the other hand, you can’t say the developers and writers went all out to deliver a strong, high-quality series finale either. Story and Ideas Absolute respect for fixing the approach to the story. The narrative is written properly—this is a real ending to an epic adventure. The heroes became so strong and so crucial …

Nope. Do not recommend, perhaps the second worst out of the series
