The game throws huge overleveled armies at you and all you can do is raise army after army to incrementally destroy their base It's just annoying
SpellForce 2: Faith in Destiny attempts to continue the ambitious blend of fantasy role-playing and real-time strategy that made the earlier SpellForce games stand out, and despite its flaws, it still delivers an experience that feels unique within the genre. Set in the war-torn world of Eo, the game builds its identity around large-scale conflict, ancient prophecies, dragon lore, and the struggle against an overwhelming enemy force threatening the remnants of civilization. It is a game filled with ambition, combining personal hero progression with battlefield command in a way that very few fantasy titles even attempt. The story takes place after the devastating events of previous SpellForce entries, with the magical portal network known as the Portal System now destroyed. Entire nations and races have become isolated, trade and communication have collapsed, and chaos spreads across the world. Into this unstable situation emerges the threat of the Nameless, a mysterious and destructive force capable of consuming entire regions. Players step into the role of a Shaikan warrior tied to ancient dragon bloodlines, and the campaign quickly transforms from a local conflict into a despera…
It's fine for what it is. If you liked base game you will like this one. Story is a bit lacking in my opinion but not horrendous.
Not a good experience overall. 1) poor balance had me brute forcing masses of armies again and again to make tiny advances 2) boring maps => often every now and then a handful of enemies are scattered around and sometimes side quests where you have to fetch something, basically the only type of quest I encountered 3) main quest is intruiging at first but ultimatly fails flat due to weird dialogue and no personality on the npcs involved. The quirky professor is one of the most annoying characters I ever encountered 4) as a strategy game there is not much there. It feels more like an "epic adventure" where sometimes you get to build something to advance
I enjoyed the gameplay, especially how it shifts between party-based combat and RTS-style city building. The story felt a bit lacking though. After about five hours, I didn’t dislike it, but I’m not really motivated to keep going and see how it ends.
Decent but not as good as the original
