The SpellForce 3: Versus Edition gives you the chance to enter the battlefields of Eo for free, letting you test your RTS skills against AI opponents or even other human players.
You can choose whether you want to take on AI enemies in a Skirmish battle, or go head-to-head with other human players of SpellForce 3 in both Ranked and Unranked PVP matches.
On top of it all you can also check out the single-player scenario ‘Old Haalâyash’ to get a glimpse of what the lavishly created single player campaigns of SpellForce 3 and its stand-alone expansions have to offer.
You will be randomly assigned a faction, giving you a chance to try out either playing as Orcs, Humans or Elves.
Each faction has its own strengths and traits, so you’ll need to develop your strategy to make the most of your warriors and workers.

It's a great blend of RPG and RTS. The missions are definitely challenging, but if you learn to play the game well, it's very rewarding. I have to say I really like the story. It's like a blend of Baldur's Gate and Warcraft.
Solid game. Considering the price of the PVP expansion its well worth it if ya wanna duke it out with friends. Dark Elves are annoying as hell though, screw those bastards.
Cool game with nice features for being free
so many options and so cozy
I debated for a long time between a negative and a positive rating, but the game's ending swayed me to the "dark side." The game has enough of positive aspects — beautiful graphics, engaging exploration, tireless AI (which can make your life hell on higher difficulties), and a satisfying story. But the abrupt ending, with no clear conclusion or consequences for the characters you've invested 40+ hours into, leaves the feeling of a waste of time.
