SpellForce 2: Anniversary Edition remains one of the more fascinating fantasy hybrids ever created because it refuses to commit entirely to a single genre. Instead of choosing between role-playing mechanics and real-time strategy gameplay, the game fully embraces both, resulting in an experience that feels expansive, ambitious, and surprisingly immersive even years after its original release. The Anniversary Edition gathers the base campaign and Dragon Storm expansion into one package while also modernizing technical aspects for current hardware, making it the definitive way to experience this classic fantasy adventure. The world of Eo is presented as a land filled with ancient wars, forgotten magic, political unrest, and supernatural threats. While the narrative uses familiar fantasy concepts, it succeeds because of its strong atmosphere and consistent worldbuilding. The game creates the feeling of participating in a massive legend rather than simply completing disconnected quests. Every region, faction, and …2 found this helpful
It is one of mid 2000's RTS games of all time. This is how I would describe it if it wasn't another game in the Spellforce series. It continues story where first one left off with a bit of a twist. Personally I didn't like the story overall, but it has good RTS mechanics with a sprinkle of hero based gameplay from the first one.1 found this helpful

Personally, because I played Glest when I was a kid, I find this a very interesting gamemode. Story-wise it's ok, nothing to brag about in my opinion, but the game itself is pretty much a story-based Glest, mixed with character levelling, skill-trees & equipment customisation, but the main reason why I enjoy it, is the ability to build around your own structures, upgrading your forces, expanding your dominion & improve your gathering, all while advancing the story. Surely not everyone's cup of tea, but to me it's the exact Glest mechanic in a continuous, story-driven map-progression. To put it simply, me likey :)
