It is the year 518. The rebellion of the renegade mages, known as the Mage Wars, has been quashed by the Crown. However, it was a Pyrrhic victory: Whole regions have fallen into anarchy, refugees roam the lands in search of shelter, and a mysterious, deadly plague called the “Bloodburn” has arisen and is spreading rapidly.
In times like these people cling to any sign of hope they can find. The Purity of Light, led by a charismatic man called Rondar Lacaine, claims that mages are the source of all misfortune – and that only the second coming of Aonir, the father of all gods, will return Eo to its former splendor.
The story takes place before the acclaimed SpellForce: The Order of Dawn.

RTS sections are HORRIBLE, some achievements are literally unobtainable due to clueless game balance
Good graphics, music and voice acting. Some characters are well written, some seem to use "..." too much like they are awkward all the time no matter what happens. RTS elements are unbalanced and there some funny interactions. Eg. You cant destroy some buildings because workers keep repairing it so fast that even an army cant do it. This can be countered by warrior skill that deals great amount of damage to structures or by using catapults. Player needs to unlock blueprints/upgrades to use some buildings. It is unclear where to get resources or what buildings you need for some enhancement. RPG elements are rly good, skill trees allows to create various builds - healers, elemental mages, necromancers, rangers, warriors, tanks.
I saw and heard a lot of sublime or even direct modern political messages. Good stories, high fantasy at that, don't require ideological doctrines in their timeline.
Well you have a decent RPG in here and you have an ok RTS in here. Might not be the best of the both worlds but it's the best where two are mixed together.
Get it on sale. There's an amazing beautiful well made game here once you get past the reddit fedora tipping atheist tier writing. I don't know why they got the guy from Enderal to write a new Spellforce game, it'd be like getting a guy who hates dragons to write a new Eragon novel. Every other aspect of this game is positively divine. The music, the units, the gameplay, if I had a single wish I'd wish for a writer who actually understood and loved this franchise and setting instead of someone with a soapbox and chip on their shoulder.
