A great Kingdom sim, I've been hoping for Majesty 3 for years! well worth trying out. Has some great artistry in the design.
10/10 would bribe my own heroes again I sank countless hours into this game as a kid, playing through every single version, and coming back to it now proves it’s an absolute classic. Majesty 2 is a completely non-traditional RTS. Instead of micromanaging units like a standard strategy game, it's all about macro-management and indirect control. Your heroes have their own minds, priorities, and survival instincts. Want a werewolf dead? You better set a juicy gold reward flag and hope your guild members want to get rich. It's the perfect game if you prefer deep, engaging single-player campaigns over competitive multiplayer. The base game is incredibly charming, but the three official DLCs (Kingmaker, Battles of Ardania, Monster Kingdom) really flesh out the world. And for the hardcore fans out there: yes, this game is entirely worth it just to prepare yourself for Cold Sunrise, the legendary Russian-made DLC mod that takes the difficulty and mechanics to a whole new level. If you want a one-of-a-kind strategy experience that doesn't take itself too seriously, you need to play this.
If it wasn't for all the bugs it would be a decent game. I struggled HARD in the first (easy) missions, barely beating the first one. Turns out that for some reason your FPS is tied to your build speed - so my 300 fps meant that it was taking multiple minutes to build a single guard tower. And then there's the crashes - I had to look up cheese for a mission because it consistently crashed at the 30 day mark no matter what I did. Then I had to download a fan patch for the last mission, because it would crash over and over again. Ridiculous. And you can cheese the game ridiculously early just by....pausing the game. Cool stuff
