Starlight Legacy succeeds as a charming retro JRPG with solid pixel art, exploration-focused design, and quality-of-life features like toggleable encounters and flexible world order that appeal to fans of classic 16-bit RPGs. Players appreciate the nostalgic atmosphere, reasonable length, and fun treasure hunting, though some note the story lacks originality and wish for battle speed-up options, while occasional frustrations with heavy status effects emerge.
A very cool throwback-style JRPG with some modern quality of life touches! I finished it in about 6.5 hours while getting most of the secret items and high level spells. PROS - Can customize XP gain and toggle enemy encounters on and off - Can play the 4 worlds in any order - Fun exploration and lots of treasure to find - Solid pixel art - Not that long CONS - Story is very cliche and basic. Nothing special - Wish there was a way to speed up battles If you like SNES-era RPGs you'll dig Starlight Legacy.3 found this helpful
🌌🗡️ “Classic JRPG vibes turned up to eleven! Starlight Legacy drops you into the kingdom of Evaria, where the fate of the land rests on three warriors and four powerful relics. Forests, mountains, deserts, skies—pick your path, explore in any order, and embrace that sweet retro 16-bit nostalgia. It’s non-linear, adventurous, and scratches that old-school RPG itch perfectly.” 🎶✨ ⭐ 5/5 — Highly recommend! If you love classic JRPGs, exploration, and epic relic hunts, this one’s a gem. 💎 👉 Check it out here: https://youtu.be/QAOiWxiA2V03 found this helpful
Well color me shocked. I didn't see this one coming.... If you like the style of the very early FF games, then this will probably hit pretty well. I grew up on this feel of RPGs so it instantly hooked me. It is pretty easy to get into and manage growth. And it feels pretty light hearted, reminding me a lot of the SNES days. So if you dig that feel, go for it. But I am already noticing the heavy use of status effects, even instant kill early in the game. Instant kill is a big deal to me, and it seems like it comes up a little too much already. That skill killed Skies of Arcadia for me, and i hope it doesn't do the same here. So far there is a lot to love. Equip two swords, get frenzy, and go to town. Trust me...it will be worth it.2 found this helpful
