Is this a joke? I feel like I just played the Wish.com version of an amazing game from 13 years ago called Space Rangers. Unfortunately, its like a lesser quality version and if I played the two side by side I would think this Star Sim was the old game since it has worse graphics and seems like a stripped down clone. Very bummed because i love this genre and still pull out space rangers from time to time for a shot of nostalgia. Steer clear of this one, its a bummer.19 found this helpful
Very much enjoying my time playing Starsim. Plays very well on steam deck. Dev is active and updating game regularly. Very chill and enjoyable space game. Edit: after 3 hrs the game is growing on me. I'm really not sure what the negative reviews are about. The dev is actively addressing issues and the game is really fun. Peoples expectations are likely too high for an indie game. I've played Space Rangers before and I actually prefer this game over it. Personal preference.11 found this helpful
Space Rangers + Star Traders: Frontiers
Pros:

Deep gameplay.
Galaxy lives by himself, so you never know what's going to happen next.
There's a ton of activities to keep you busy, like planet missions, trading, scavenging, searching planets with probes, fighting aliens, and more.
Cons:

Difficult game. A good manual would be nice.
10 found this helpful
Good enough but could be better
Just to mention the differences to Space Rangers:

Interesting crew fights (like in Darkest Dungeon), but 2D sprites do not fully fit the game style.
New faction system with statuses adds some variability, but text quests seem too common.
Can also be difficult if you haven't played Space Rangers before
Overall, it is a decent game in an unusual genre. I cannot remember a game in this genre for a long time.9 found this helpful
