Originally released in 2002, Street Legal (1) is the little-known predecessor of the famous 2003 sequel: Street Legal Racing: Redline, also known as Street Legal 2.

Power is calculated on-the-fly using real engine attributes like cylinder bore, stroke, compression, valve & spark timings, airflow rate, fuel mixture, and more!
The attributes will change depending on parts installed and their mechanical condition.
For example, a worn cylinder head will be given looser valve timings to simulate valve spring damage, leading to reduced power at high RPM.
Make your way from getting the most out of your little Inline 4 to building supercharged racing V8s, and screaming along at 10K RPM using Street Legal's insane work-of-art N/A V10!
Street Legal's dynamic permanent damage system affects individual parts according to point of impact, and it's not just visual!
Light bodywork dents will only increase aero drag, while bigger impacts can bend the entire chassis, affecting suspension geometry, and causing serious damage to the parts attached!
Keep the RPM in check to balance engine longevity and outright speed during races!
Running gear parts will individually lose effectiveness over time, according to loads experienced during your driving!
For example, a course with many right-hand turns will wear out the left-hand tyres first.
Harsh driving will wear your suspension, braking will wither, paint will scratch, bumpers will dent, bend, and be lost!

This game is worth the buy if you ask me. I will warn you though - this is not a new game. This is a revised re-release of the original game on steam. If you're expecting modern graphics and maps, you're in the wrong place. This game has some really neat mechanics and game modes that really make it a unique experience. For players of the series, once you get past the differences with SLRR (Less complex engine builds, No tuning individual parts, etc.) it really does shine as it's own standalone game. At first I was expecting something closer to SLRR, but once you get past the differences it's really a solid game. It has a different feel than SLRR, with different balancing. There's some mechanics in this game I really love, and wouldn't mind seeing in SLRR either. That being said, there's some mechanics I would like to see in this game from SLRR too - just with the ability to turn them on/off depending on the playstyle I'm going for. -SL1 vs SLRR- (Mostly based on career mode) + Customization options tied to the career save. Solid, balanced, and full of energy street racing sim! For me, this is the best street racing game. What do we have here: traffic! collisions & car damage! car repair and upgrades from a first-person perspective! somehow working AI! police chases! And on top of that, we have mod support, cockpit view, and steering wheel support (even with an H-shifter!). The game is are is so full of pros, but there are also some cons: If we compare this with SLRR: Cons: - only one-and-a-half game mode available (SLRR: Drag, Street, ROC, Custom Tracks — 4 game modes) - no tuning part adjustments - slightly arcade RWD car physics Pros: - more “fresh-looking” game engine with tons of settings - better traffic behavior - more street racing, less (or none) drag racing - better balance (no more 400–600 horsepower cars right after the start!) I’ve completed the classic mode of the game in three evenings. I will play more and hope they add TrackIR/VR support - on the street, I need to look around. Janky, but very fun.
So I bought this game with very high expectations because I played Slrr 2.3.1 before and basicly all other older versions that exist. I was a huge fan of such games back then. Sadly I am very VERY dissapointed in this game. The perfomance on my RTX 4060Ti is ♥♥♥♥ (TRASH optimization), the game crashes often, but what im the most dissapointed about are the physics. Cars feel like bathtubs with wheels. Suspensions are kinda soft and you can easily finish a career in 3 hours. The game is missing what I loved about earlier titles: The large part selection and the engine detail! GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK. If I would know how to get a refund I would have done that IMMEDIATELY
