About Super Daryl Deluxe
Super Daryl Deluxe is an RPGvania with brawler-style combat set inside of a perfectly normal, sprawling, multi-dimensional high school. Like any other perfectly normal school, its students and faculty are going missing and the classrooms have been locked down for weeks. Yes, there's nothing remarkable happening at WFHS whatsoever - just ask the new principal.Things are bound to get stirred up when an enthusiastic, bizarrely dressed new kid wanders into town. This go-getter's name is Daryl, and he just wants to make friends. What starts out as an innocent effort to help jump-start a young contraband textbook business turns into a harrowing quest through the school and its enormous, monster-filled classrooms in the hope of becoming the most popular kid in town. Oh - and saving everyone's lives is top priority, of course.
No need to worry. There's nothing to see here at Water Falls High School.

The game is sometimes funny, but it's very confusing and also buggy in the worst places. There's often no idea what to do or where to go in quests. There's no real info about them. Just "something is happening somewhere." Some might like it - I prefer a bit more info. The humour is ok sometimes, bad often. It's a question of taste and style. It's not the worst by far. The main character literally never speaking is quite a good touch though. But the bugs... I played almost through the whole game with very little issues but then it started. Locked up in an area and enemies just go out of reach? Restart many times before managing to kill them before it happened. Final boss is multiple stages with unskippable babble in between. This time crashes, Daryl being pushed out of bounds and unable to hit an enemy... Yeah. Restart restart restart. Had to redo the fight five times even though I could've done it in one go. Just look at the achievements: most people who ever played this have not played it much. All the achievements are less than 10%. Just finishing the game is now at 6%! So that says something. But you do you, I'm sure this game has its audience.3 found this helpful
FR/EN Super Daryl Deluxe
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3706129919
---FR---
Super Daryl Deluxe starts with a brutal introduction where you fight hordes of enemies... before waking up. We then meet our character, Daryl, who is pretty much the epitome of an anti-hero. A scrawny guy with glasses, a Rambo-style headband, and a shrimp-like physique. From the very first seconds, the game plays the silly humor card, and personally, I'm a fan. We find ourselves in Daryl's shoes, the archetypal anti-hero. Daryl isn't charismatic, and he finds himself plunged into a high school with a dash o…1 found this helpful
As a metroidvania, Super Daryl Deluxe is pretty bland, but the art style, humor, and action-packed combat sold it to me. Combat is simple but satisfying. It's basically a button-smashing beat'em up, but comboing the skills is fun. There are plenty of skills to choose from, and almost everything is viable. You are constantly finding new skills, better gear, and unlocking areas with new enemies. Fast-travel could unlock sooner, though.1 found this helpful
I LOVE the art style of this game and the combat, I gave this game up for a while and tried picking it back up - it seems like its impossible to find where to go next. I understand having a not-completely-linear game creates a lot more freedom for the player, but I wish there was a better indication of what to do next. Or maybe there is and I dont see it, but I've given up on this game.
Quirky and fun. I really enjoyed this game.
I played this a long while ago, but I never got around to reviewing it until now. The term “No other game quite like it” is bandied around a fair bit, but this game genuinely earns that term. SDD is one of the most refreshingly weird games I have ever played, and I really wish I could re-experience it for the first time again. Gameplay-wise, SDD is a very good RPG Metroidvania that has a fun cooldown-based combat system, which encourages you to weave together a lot of different abilities rather than just spamming one or two like in other similar games, and while the exploration can be slightly obtuse sometimes, it really rewards deductive reasoning and memorisation of the places you go. If the gameplay was all there was to go on, it would be good already, but where it really shines is the way it’s presented. I don’t want to spoil much more than what is shown in the trailer, but the visuals of the game are absolutely fantastic – There is an ongoing surrealist comedy vibe through the backgrounds and character design, and it makes the whole thing pretty unforgettable. The writing of the game is also very good, with a story that ended up being surprisingly gripping, especially …
