About Super Motherload

✦ AI summary

Dig deep into Mars as a Soviet or American miner in this 1-4 player co-op adventure set during an alternate Cold War, where you'll uncover a conspiracy while upgrading your pod and solving explosive puzzles. With a branching storyline by acclaimed comic writer Kurtis Wiebe, procedurally-generated worlds that shift each playthrough, and the classic Motherload bundled free, Super Motherload blends mining progression with narrative twists and competitive camaraderie.

Set on Mars in an alternate Cold-War era, Super Motherload is a 1 to 4-player couch co-op digging adventure with storyline by Image Comics' Kurtis Wiebe, a fully voiced cast of Soviet and American characters, and a procedurally-generated world that changes each time you play. Purchase powerful upgrades and supplies for your mining pod as you progress and prosper, as well as rare Specials Abilities with random availability.

You, the player, work for Solarus Corporation, an inter-planetary mining operation that has developed the infrastructure needed to harvest the precious resources of Mars to meet demand back on Earth. Soon after being dropped on Mars, you begin to discover that things aren't quite as they seem.

Included free with the Steam version of Super Motherload is Motherload Goldium Edition, the 2004 cult classic that inspired games like Infiniminer.

Awesome game, I loved playing the original as a kid on Miniclip, and this sequel adds some interesting changes to some of the game functions and a little more lore depth. The graphics are much improved as well. They also have the original available in the same download in case you want to play that. SPOILER BELOW HERE: I do wish they had done more in terms of the actual depth to the game though, because it has potential to have a much longer gameplay loop, such as them having possibly included involving more planets/moons (maybe some minerals can only be found on certain worlds or something), more alien civs, and an overall more in depth story than what you get in the actual game. As is though, I do recommend the game still as is, it is still a fun playthrough even though it is a very simple game.

I bought it for the OG Motherlode Goldium Edition. One of my favourite flash games from the Miniclip era.

Fun game with a cool style. Brings back memories from my teen years! One major problem. Regular freeze/crash on final boss. It's a long sequence and completely ruins the experience.

Motherload was one of my favorite flash games back in the day. Super Motherload is a more modern rendition of this game that wraps it into a visually nice package with a good story and an ending that thematically makes a lot of sense. They also preserved the original too and you get an easy to launch version of it that doesn't make you jump through hoops with flash player in the modern era.
