About Talon's Blade

With four directions of attack and defense, the combat of Talon's Blade provides both a strategic and reactionary gameplay experience. Overwhelm your foe with a flurry of strikes, or wait for them to make the first move and punish their attack with a well-timed parry. Feint your attack to throw your opponent off balance or kick them off a ledge. You can focus on increasing your combo to cast a devastating spell or take an elixir to empower each strike. Feel the flow of combat as you deflect incoming attacks and respond with lethal strikes. Explore the strengths and weaknesses of each foe, looking for an opening to execute the killing blow. The combos you create when attacking empower you to unleash devastating magical attacks upon your enemies. Conjure destructive fire storms, trap your enemies in entropic stasis, and summon lightning from the heavens to smite your foes. The higher the combo, the more potent the spell. How this power manifests depends on the spells you unlock throughout your adventure. The more adversaries you defeat, the more you can upgrade your arsenal of combo-finishing spells. To arms! Discover eighteen unique weapon and armor sets, each with an array of attributes to customize your look and stats. Utilize the equipment that compliments your play style. Your equipment determines not only your damage and defense but also your attack speed and stamina cost of actions. Tailor your perfect combo of speed and lethality to devastate your foes. Betrayed soldier driven by revenge, navigating a linear world rich in lore and rhythm-based combat, where flawed progression systems and exploitable mechanics often undermine the game's deeper potential. You assume the role of Marcus, a battle-hardened soldier from an elite unit known as the Talons. Sent by the emperor behind enemy lines to help bring a 20-year war to a close, the mission crumbles when betrayal rears its head. Captured, bound, and awaiting a gruesome execution in a remote mountain prison, Marcus seems doomed, until an unknown force wipes out his captors and grants him freedom. After that, there’s only one though in Marcus’ head: revenge against the traitor. There's no reliance on long cinematic cutscenes. Instead, the story unfolds through beautifully designed mosaic artworks and a trove of optional lore. Letters, journals, item descriptions, and location information paint a unique world. The attention to detail is quite commendable and interesting. Basic movement feels instantly familiar. You can walk, sprint, jump, and roll using standard inputs. Holding the jump button and a direction lets you perform a roll, but this move is pretty pointless because you wil…

Excited to get deeper into the game as the combat seems like a fun and unique concept. Runs good on the steam deck after a little optimization which for any steam deck owner is standard. Controller support and controls have no issues. Only issue I ran into was probably just due to the size of the handheld oven but the character response boxes ran off the side of the screen as well as some of the display types not working properly (I think it was full screen and very possibly bordered window that were broken), again more of a steam deck issue, these issues have not and will not detract from my enjoyment. TL;DR: I'm excited to play more, runs good on steam deck with optimization and good controller support, only issue was with the handheld nuclear reactor's screen size not the game.
