About Terror Diversion
Terror Diversion is a text-based adventure game filled with numerous random events. You play as a girl haunted by spirits, who, after taking a leave from school, arrives in a strange town. Here, she must investigate a series of mysterious incidents while making sure she doesn't collapse from exhaustion or lose her sanity.

Features:

Features:
- No combat, the developer has thoughtfully removed this part for you (actually, out of laziness).
- A dice-based check system involving four attributes: Strength, Dexterity, Charisma, and Perception.
- Multiple playable characters, each with their own backstories and stats.
- Rich scripts and short stories, each with different flavors and themes.
- Tons of random events; if you fail an investigation, blame the "dealer" and try again.

I was so excited for this game, but in the end it really didn't live up to my expectations - it really does feel like a worse version of World of Horror. With the art, the gameplay, and the UI, I was definitely expecting them to be similar, but Terror Diversion really does feel like WoH with all the connective tissue shaved off. There are a number of characters and mysteries to choose from, which is nice. Then you're given your WoH-style creepy scenarios to respond to, and there is some fun imagery and art here. However, this is also where things break down - roughly every second prompt is tied to the mystery you're working on, which is fine, but the rest of the prompts are random, which also makes them feel completely contextless. The prompts are also somewhat awkwardly written and lacking in detail, which makes that floating, unmoored-from-space feeling worse, and many of them don't have a branching decision to go with them. Instead, all you can do is, essentially, clicking "next". World of Horror has a map that you actively navigate, and the random events you encounter all work thematically with the locations you visit; in Terror Diversion, there is no map or choice at all invo…20 found this helpful
This game truly is the Family Guy of World of Horror7 found this helpful
It's bad. There is zero thought or strategy here. Just pure RNG, not even music. Very few graphics, either, honestly, and sub-ESL tier writing that is mostly in sentence fragment blurbs. When the store page says the dev is lazy, they are being UNBELIEVABLY honest. This is not even a demo. It's a game prototype, and to charge anything more than like $2 is highway robbery. A few pretty WoH-like images aren't enough to make a game.6 found this helpful
I've had Terror Diversion on my watch list for a long time. In the interim, I have been playing a mix of games in the point and click and choose your own adventure genre and I'm glad to have added this one to my collection. Terror Diversion draws inspiration from Junji Ito and has similarities to the game World of Horror without the combat involved. You choose between 4 characters with different starting stats (Strength, Dexterity, Charisma, Perception, Stamina, and Sanity) that will help increase the odds of successfully passing events throughout the 4 campaigns. Each campaign has 13 events in total with multiple endings. Some of these events involve doing a skill check against the corresponding stat you have or involve you selecting what you see is the best option to progress. In addition to passing certain events you may also have your stats increased or decreased as a result of your decisions. There is also unique events for each character and campaign. In it's current state it has no music, but I'm sure down the road there will be some added to increase immersion. I do hope the developer continues to add more scenarios, characters, and events to increase its replay value and a…5 found this helpful
Coming from playing World of Horror to this game that's very much trying to emulate it, I'm disappointed in the lack of ability to alter my game play. You are at the mercy of single-choice actions that may simply end your run with no opportunity to skew those odds in your favour like WoH. The art is fantastic looking, for the most part, but there isn't much to look at. The fact that there's no music in the game is a huge let-down as well. A horror game without ambience is a meal without spice.4 found this helpful
