Terror In The Atomic Desert

If you were a teacher, and you gave an assignment to make a game that parodies vintage Cold War-era UFO sci-fi, and that kid who always sits in the back and sleeps waited until the night before it was due to start working on it and then handed it in anyway, this is probably what you'd get. I don't think I've ever seen such a total disconnect between concept and execution. As premises go this is slow-pitch 16-inch softball. It's overflowing with so much potential that it should be almost impossible to mess it up entirely. You could exploit an encyclopedia's worth of UFO mythology, from Anal Probes to X-Files (I can't think of a Y or Z, but I'm sure they're out there, too). There's the Fallout-style nuclear theme. Horror movie cliches. Cold War social satire. An oddball cast of characters that you encounter way out the the smaller-than-small towns of the western US desert as you try to make your way home. We get practically none of that; at least, nothing that works. It's like the scene in Pulp Fiction where the guy empties an entire handgun at point-blank range and every shot misses. I really enjoyed this game. It has a very science fiction B movie type feeling. So if you're a fan of 1970's style creature features this game is for you. Also I like how every area has an objective that needs to be met. This is not a super long game it can be played to completion in an hour or less, but for the game price I feel that it is good quality. All in all I was very happy with this game and look forward to more games by this dev in the future.

I gave up after falling through the map and getting stuck in the environment three times. Looks like a nice idea and game, but it's just too unpolished to keep restarting and playing.

A fitting tribute to schlocky B-Movies about Aliens. Explore a reasonably large world and talk to people to solve puzzles. I wish the game were a bit more polished but I get that it is targeted at schlock. A pretty great little game. https://youtu.be/imXeQCq8tX4

First game i ever played when i started PC gaming 6 years ago. One of my all time favourties.

hehe. yea sure. it's a little short i guess. but it's fun and funny sure why not.
