About The Abnormal Place
Abigail has awoken in a strange world, and otherworldly resort and hotel that's made for monsters, and she's also lost her voice?! That's a lot for a young woman with no special abilities.
The Abnormal Place is a spooky 3D platformer with a deadly environment, light puzzles, collectibles and an interconnecting world which has weird irritable looking monsters that will send you on ridiculous quests.
In The Abnormal Place you'll have to find your way through an environment that is purposely designed to be lethal.
First and foremost you must help Abigail recover her voice so that you can win over the monsters. Next, survive the hazards, traps and deadly machinations, solve light puzzles and collect items that help with the demanding needs of the monsters and their distinct personalities. Only then will Abigail find her way to the top of the hotel and possibly a way home.

An intriguing indie curio. At its core, it's a clunky-but-serviceable platforming collect-a-thon. A handcrafted game for sure, and extremely rough around the edges, but if you can look past its production value weaknesses, there's something enrapturing about the sheer vibe of The Abnormal Place. Most of this is down to the game's world, which has both a distinctive atmosphere and solid level design that seemed to me to be inspired by the intertwining verticality of the original Dark Souls (and I don't make that comparison lightly). The original score is exceptional as well, and does some serious heavy lifting for the overall tone. There's a charm to the writing and some heavy themes buried in the narrative, though I would have enjoyed seeing them forefronted and structured more elegantly within the playtime. There's also some serious jank to the gameplay, though the autosave system ensured I never really lost any progress due to the handful of bugs I experienced. Character interaction largely boils down to fetch quests, which can wear a bit, especially towards the endgame. Despite these shortcomings, I found myself too charmed to stop playing. Overall, The Abnormal Place won't b…3 found this helpful
Far from a perfect game, the jump animation doesnt play with the jump, but after, and platforming is somewhat clunky. The overall Tim Burton aesthetic and attention to detail in this crafted world is great though. Exploring and conversing with Abnormal Places strange inhabitants is very enjoyable. The Abnormal Place is a surreal adventure-platformer developed and published by Berserker Interactive that combines exploration, environmental puzzles, platforming challenges, and unusual storytelling into a distinctive indie experience. Set within a mysterious resort populated by strange creatures and hidden dangers, the game follows a young woman named Abigail as she struggles to recover her lost voice and uncover the secrets of a world that feels detached from reality. Through its blend of whimsical imagery, dark undertones, and interconnected exploration, the game creates a memorable journey that stands apart from more conventional platforming adventures. The story begins with Abigail finding herself trapped in a bizarre location without any clear understanding of how she arrived there. Unable to speak and surrounded by unfamiliar creatures, she must explore the resort and surrounding areas in search of answers. The loss of her voice serves as both a narrative hook and a gameplay motivation, driving players to investigate every corner of the world in hopes of restoring what has been taken from her. This unusual premise immediately creates intrigue and encourages curiosity from…1 found this helpful
The autosave is frustrating. Collecting all of an item and then falling off a cliff only to be left with 2/4 of the item suuuuucks1 found this helpful
