About The Circle Tales: Elvenwoods
Elvenwoods is a story-driven action-adventure game, and the first instalment of the Dark Aeon saga. It is an experimental project made to learn game development, and is now available for everyone on Steam. It will therefore remain completely free.
In the beginning, there was a Source. This Source was the origin of every universe, and the only thing that prevented time and space to collapse. In the year 5000 of the Creation Era, the high priest of the Dead God Tarisdum destroyed the Source, starting a ten-thousand-year prophecy. Its first events take place in Vàlochlin, a young world built by the Warlord Dusnol to hide the skull of the Dead God. You are Imriel of Darkwood, Green Spirit of the Circle, an elf who dreams of exploring the world. After arriving in the Elvenwoods, you begin a quest to slay a resurrected Tarisdum, and to uncover the mystery of the Three Enemies.
The beginning of a saga
A 10-hour long, fully voiced story.
Elvenwoods is a story-driven game, based on a main questline and seven factions.
Epic battles
A dynamic sword, bow, and magic combat system.
18 unique boss battles await the players, as well as a trials mode for those who seek a true challenge.
A vast open world
The world of Elvenwoods expands on three different maps and more than a hundred locations to explore.
Players can travel by foot, on a mount, on a boat, or even by flying.

Super cool stuff imo! Give it a try, it's got a beautiful fantasy feel, very interesting graphics & lovely sound, a seemingly huge open world to explore and all the RPG elements we have come to know and love in our Elder Scrolls-type action RPGs. Will definitely be playing this more, thanks devs for the very cool freebie! <35 found this helpful
"The Circle Tales: Elvenwoods" is a "proving" game from a game studio that presumably collapsed after publishing this (it's not an easy job trying to do game development professionally, but kudos for trying and not just doing asset flips). They made a (perhaps way overambitious) open world action RPG but kinda... failed to implement anything that gamers would really want. Let's face it, the basics aren't that hard but RPGs are a crazy high bar to try leap over if you consider competition like Baldurs Gate 3 and Elder Scrolls stuff. On the important subject of visuals, this features fairly low quality stylised/cartoony low poly 3D graphics. It comes across as the kind of thing you see on mobile phones and Nintendo games, which will deter a lot of PC gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and to be considered one of the best games on Steam, the graphics have to be some of the best on Steam. That's not happening here. Now on to pricing and value for gamers. Most "free" games on Steam aren't really free. There's usually some kind of monetisation, from nasty mobile app cash shops, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, to any other number of sh…2 found this helpful
This was not play-tested probably. The game lacks roads, a conventional way to get around, the combat is clunky and takes way too long for animation to cooldown making it stiff and dying easy. The voice acting is grating and Krak is the worst voice I ever freakin' heard in my life. He rolls his Rs so much I feel bad for any native speaker who speaks like that in real life. The fact that he's a best friend of sorts made me hate him so much more. Its like he just found out how to make that noise with his mouth and he's showing off. The game was like a uglier version of Trove that wants to be Skyrim but will never. I had to stop at some point because the zombies in the next objective were not level-scaled properly and I there was no other indication of what to do next but die. There's a thieves guild but it's confusing and makes a very convoluted request or something.
way too hard intro
