The Donut Gallery

The Donut Gallery is a really cute little game that feels more like visiting a tiny digital museum than playing a traditional game. I liked the idea almost immediately because there is something relaxing about simply walking through a gallery and looking at creative three dimensional models without having to worry about combat, puzzles or complicated objectives. The gameplay is extremely simple. I walk around the museum, approach the different displays and look at the models while reading their titles. That is basically the entire experience, but I think the simplicity works because the focus is on appreciating the student creations. I enjoyed taking my time with the exhibits rather than rushing from one area to another. The variety of models is what kept me interested. The gallery focuses heavily on donut renders made as part of a Blender tutorial, but there are also other creations inspired by fencing. I liked seeing how differently the students approached the same general creative task. Some pieces feel polished while others are more obviously experiments, and that variety gives the museum a nice sense of personality. I also liked the atmosphere. The gallery itself has a clea…

Such an artistic experience. Ever since I was a little kid I always enjoyed consuming and admiring art, so I wanted to contribute something to the art community by making art myself. However, I had a very hard time conveying emotions, whether in media or real life with people. But going through this game I finally understood what art actually is and wrote my first book "How to waste 0.2 hours on a steam meaningless game while your life falls apart: no future, no friends, no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥".

I mean, this is just a simple small museum with 3D models and renders of Donuts and Fencing Items (very related subjects, I know) made by students. And they all look pretty good. Good job to the modellers! When AI is trying to take over the world of Art, it's very endearing to see projects like this. Stuff made by real people and shared for free for others to see.

This is a really cool way to showcase student work and document it at the same time. And seeing that you'll add a new section to the gallery each year instead of replacing old ones is also nice. It'll be fun to come back every now and again to see what gets added

Great little showcase of some student models! I loved the Donuts but the Fencing Helmets were probably my favorite You can actually hop the cones going to the next year's room by walking onto the wooden trim of the museum's floor, but everything has collision back there so it really is just like walking into an off-limits area of a museum. Can't wait for the DLC. Maybe it would be cool to have a little plaque that describes what the actual assignments were so we can get some insight into the minds of the artists.
