About The In Between
Overview
The In Between is an online multiplayer game where you play as a hunter or a demon. The goal is simple: eliminate the other team!
Hunter Gameplay
Hunters can cast two spells: attack and protect. To power these spells, hunters must gather charges that are scattered throughout the map. The attack spell requires full charge, while the protect spell only requires some charge and lasts longer the more charge that you have. When protected, attack spells do not affect the hunter. Attack spells can result in four different outcomes:
- If another hunter is nearby and protected, nothing happens.
- If another hunter is nearby and possessed, the demon dies.
- Otherwise, if another hunter is nearby, they die.
- If no other hunter is nearby, the caster dies.
Demon Gameplay
Demons can possess hunters. When possessing a hunter, a demon can use the hunter's spells. When used by a demon, the attack spell results in similar outcomes. The only difference is that if no other hunter is nearby and the demon casts the attack spell, the demon dies, not the host hunter. To gain more possession time, demons must gather charges, just like hunters do. The only way a demon can kill a hunter is to possess another hunter and use the attack spell.
Note: Dead PvP game This game contains no meaningful single player content. There are no available servers and no player population. This game cannot be played as intended.
This was a weird and rather poorly made team PvP game where demons fight hunters, and of course the demons can possess hunters, who use spells to fight the demons. It never caught on, presumably gamers were repulsed by the shallow premise and godawfully lazy, ugly pixelcrap. So, "The In Between" is a dead PvP game. Why did it fail? It's video game autopsy time! Almost every PvP exclusive game on Steam fails. Only a tiny proportion of them "go viral". This game failed for many of the same reasons those others fail. The chief of which is the developer thinking that their game will "go viral" without actually creating any reason for it do so. Competition amongst PvP centric games is extreme, and there's only a finite player base to appeal to. This game failed to reach any kind of critical mass and died as a result. Let's go into some of the reasons this particular game failed to appeal to gamers, despite the zero up front cost. First and foremost, there's no meaningful si…4 found this helpful
I absolutely adore this games style and mechanics. It looks like it has lots of potential and generally looks like alot of fun! Sadly, I have not been able to test the game out yet since when I gathered 3 friends and tried to connect, me and one homie could connect to each other easily while the other homie could not join either of us. We tested alot of things but nothing worked. This was especially wierd since all of us were in the same room.3 found this helpful
Before I played The In Between, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
2 found this helpful
