The Ninth Forset is one of literally thousands of creatively bankrupt asset flips infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. This asset flip is particularly interesting because it's a love letter from a simp to the Vtuber imaginary girlfriend e-girl he's simping over. Yeah if that didn't make you throw up in your mouth a little, you're made of sterner stuff. Creepy, isn't it? Anyway this is weaponised cringe, basically you negotiate a short path of flipped assets so the developer can get invited to a VTubers birthday party. The Ninth Forest is a short, atmospheric walking simulator created as a special birthday game for the VTuber Kuiri Lulu. It’s a mysterious, slightly eerie adventure where you play as Kuiri Lulu herself, waking up in a foggy forest after receiving a strange invitation to her birthday party. The task is simple—navigate through the mist and find your way to the party. However, along the way, you’ll encounter anomalies that must be dealt with using a handgun, adding a light FPS element to what is otherwise a pretty serene exploration game. The atmosphere in The Ninth Forest is one of its standout features. The foggy woods give it a haunting, mysterious feel, and while the gameplay itself is fairly simple, the environment does a great job of pulling you into the experience. You can wander through the forest, lost in the fog, with only the occasional anomaly to break the monotony. The game’s art style is fairly minimalistic but effective in creating tension—there’s something about the stillness of the forest and the way the fog envelops you that keeps you on edge.
