About ThreeStep

ThreeStep follows the exploits of Sadie Kalasrade, a mother and ex soldier who returns to her home region of Western Alaska to hunt invasive wolves and grieve a loss. Survive the elements, collect bounties, hunt and forage for food, connect with other inhabitants of Western Alaska, and find a reason to go on.
  • Exploration: Western Alaska, a river delta dense with twisting sloughs and foliage
  • Story: a story driven by loss and the drive to continue
  • Survival: the elements, the wildlife, the loneliness
  • Scavenging: to keep your machine running you'll need to use all your wits and salvager's savvy
  • Conversation: Meet and speak with a small cast of characters, each the protagonist of their own story

ThreeStep was designed and developed by Wyatt White (CakeNeq Games) in Bethel, Alaska and features Music from Michael White

A well-written story about persistence and loss, with a unique setting, as well as surprisingly intricate survival mechanics. Yes, the graphics are a bit wonky, but they're hiding a huge amount of depth. The first time I had to fight two wolves at once... man, it was more exciting and mechanically complex than you would expect from a game that looks like this. I don't know anything about Alaska, but this game paints a thoughtful and nuanced picture of the people and environment. Honestly, this game is probably worth the small price tag just for that. I usually don't think there's anything terribly important about the whole "solo dev" thing, but Wyatt White (the creator of the game) clearly had a singular vision for what he wanted this game to achieve, and I think he was largely successful.

It gives an isolated feeling while playing through the story of Sadie, but also it goes into subject matter that creates a character that people can relate to and feel the message that much more. 8/8 gr8 time m8
