After playing this for a few hours, I've come to the conclusion that this game is sadly not worth a person's time. There's some genuine desire to make a game that's an homage to the Ultima Online style of gameplay and I can't help but admire that. Unfortunately, there's a lot of laziness going on here. Let's talk about the elephant in the room here. That this is an RPGMaker game isn't a bad thing, but usage of stock sprites, sound effects, and music is always something that can and should knock points off. Pushing that aside, an RPGMaker game can still succeed well in spite of this by focusing on the gameplay. Here, Tkl starts off alright. The game's a little rough around the edges for the first hour, but enjoyable. You're getting loot from monsters and chests, exploring, learning new skills, all that good stuff. Then you clear the first dungeon. Then the trouble starts. Exploring the world is something anyone does in these sorts of games, but when you do find civilizations away from Orbis? Half the doors don't work. No, that doesn't mean that there's nothing there. What it means is when you try to exit these doors from the inside, you fail to area transition. The game sti…24 found this helpful
The skill cap is set at 100, which you hit pretty fast. You roam about fighting stuff, thats the entire game. Good concept, by lacks any content. Would not recommend it.10 found this helpful
I would say it's decent RPGmaker game. its aight.3 found this helpful
I have had this game for some time now and even after upgrading my computer it is still very low fps-wise. The movement controls are also very confusing. At this state, I can't really recommend it for playing unless you enjoy sluggish frame rates and controlling a character that is terrible at general movement.1 found this helpful
First of all.. Does the game even pretend to be Online? Tagged as Singleplayer on the Store page, but having "Online" in a title these days only means one thing, it's an MMO. Or at least a multiplayer game, or at LEAST online(cloud saves doesn't count). So it starts you off by teaching you things at the start but once you're done with that, then you're kinda on your own, and game is not even tagged as a Sandbox. Menus are hard to navigate, and spells are clunky to cast. I didn't get very far, and when you die in the game, all UI closes down, and you're not told what to do, or how to be brought back to life. If you try open menus, it'll close down after 1 second, meaning you can't really do much. Even to have to get to exit->load needs the right timing and click coordination.1 found this helpful
Tkl Online is a curious and ambitious experiment by KURONEKO SOFT, an RPG Maker VX project that aims to capture the spirit of a massive online world within a single-player framework. On the surface, it looks like a simple retro-style role-playing game, but beneath that modest presentation lies an attempt to emulate the freedom and complexity of an MMO without the need for servers or social infrastructure. Set in the world of Orbis Terrarum, the game presents an open environment where monsters, magic, and exploration intertwine. It places emphasis on player freedom, allowing you to carve your own path—whether as a monster hunter, a magic user, a merchant, or an all-around adventurer. This sense of freedom gives the game its core appeal. Despite being a solo experience, it borrows the tone and pace of an online RPG, giving players the illusion of inhabiting a persistent, living world that keeps moving even when no one else is around. The aesthetic of Tkl Online is unmistakably that of RPG Maker—tile-based environments, 2D sprites, and a user interface that leans on nostalgia rather than complexity. Yet, within these limitations, KURONEKO SOFT manages to create a sense of scale that …
