About Tokyo Babel
The gates of Heaven are closed shut; the realm of Hell consumed by flood.
And in their wake, countless parallel worlds wither away, one after the other.
The surviving angels and demons gather at the city they believe to be their final chance at salvation: the floating purgatory of "Tokyo Babel".
Joined by humans, they embark on a pilgrimage across the seven layers of Babel, hoping to ascend Jacob's Ladder in an effort to re-open the gates of Heaven.
Their journey would be an atonement toward the heavens.
And yet, their plans fall into ruin as a group of pilgrims - their minds consumed by madness - set out to lord over the numerous layers of Tokyo Babel with the intention to wreak complete and utter havoc atop the floating purgatory.
Amidst this neverending impasse, a lone youth is saved from the ruins of his devastated world - Tendou Setsuna, a man denied human treatment since birth.
Joining his savior, Lilith - known as the Witch of the Night, he begins his journey across Tokyo Babel...

Tokyo Babel is a sprawling, feverish fusion of apocalyptic myth, character drama, and metaphysical ambition, delivered through a visual novel that feels both extravagant and intimate. Its story begins in the ruins of countless collapsed worlds, leaving angels, demons, and humans stranded in a distorted purgatory known as Tokyo Babel. This artificial tower, suspended like a wound in the fabric of reality, is all that remains after a cosmic catastrophe seals Heaven’s gates and floods Hell’s depths. The atmosphere is immediately unnerving — a universe on the brink of oblivion, inhabited by survivors who cling to hope through a dangerous pilgrimage meant to reach the summit and confront a silent, absent God. The premise alone gives the world a sense of mythic scale, but it works best when the narrative allows players to sit inside the slow burn of dread, regret, and determination that motivates the cast. The story’s dramatic tension centers on Setsuna, a stoic and enigmatic young man whose past and motivations slowly unravel as the game progresses. Very cool chuuni vibes with a great cast of characters. The OST can get a bit repetitive, it has some okay tracks, but nothing really stands out. The story asks some great questions and resolves them properly. I cant help but think the game had a pretty low budget - the art style isnt the greatest (especially when it comes to sprites), though it definitely has a certain charm to it. Overall, its not quite on the level of Dies irae, but its still a very good experience.1 found this helpful
If you like anime fight scenes that are 85% internal analysis and 15% actual movement, then you'll like this visual novel. Purgatory is a Japanese high school. There's angels in thigh high socks and demons wearing seifuku. God is a mad robot and men fight using the crystallised essences of their own hearts. This thing is wild. It takes itself a bit too seriously for my liking, but it's a high quality visual novel with good art and great effects. There are a ridiculous number of fight scenes, and it's all relatively well-written. Overall the outrageous, over-the-top action overbalanced a lot of the emotional impact though. Any chance I was going to cry at any of the sad endings went out the window when I witnessed the main character chucking honest-to-god bunker busters in the final fight on one of the routes. It was a fun ride, but I'm glad it's over now so my brain can rest.1 found this helpful
