About Torn
Torn is a dark science-fiction mystery built for VR.
Deep in a forgotten forest, video blogger Katherine Patterson discovers an abandoned mansion, littered with strange machines and disturbing experiments. This is the home of the famed Dr. Lawrence Talbot, who went missing more than 64 years ago. This could be the story of Patterson’s career, worth millions… But when she meets Dr. Talbot in person -- still alive, trapped in another dimension, and missing his body -- Patterson realizes she was wrong. This is the story of a lifetime.
Torn opens as a narrative puzzle game as you help Talbot reactivate the mysterious machines that bring his mansion to life. Then it evolves into a dark, character-driven story as you slowly uncover the truth about Talbot, and the new dimension he calls “The Parallel.” Remember everything you see, for in Talbot’s world, truth is nothing more than the invention of the mind.
The Mansion - Teeming with the puzzles and machinations of a mad, disembodied physicist, Talbot’s mansion is a sandbox VR tourist destination built for fans of classic science fiction like The Twilight Zone and Black Mirror.
Spectacular Acts of Vandalism - Use Dr. Talbot’s gravity tool to fling pianos with the flick of a wrist. Build giant towers of objects and bring them crashing down in grand fashion.
Cinematic VR - Written by Neill Glancy (Stranglehold) and Susan O’Connor (Tomb Raider, BioShock). Original orchestral score composed by Garry Schyman (BioShock, Middle Earth: Shadow of War).

What Steam players say

The puzzles were repetitive and the female player character was INSUFFERABLE. you wanted her to shut up but she kept talking and saying the most inane things. This is a prime example on why VR Player characters should be silent protagonists. she was saying stuff that i wouldn't say in the situation and it was irritating. The worst part though was the ending. Without spoilers i'll just say, if you were looking forward to the story wrapping up in a satisfying way after learning everything you did from the game, too bad. they ruin it for a cheap rug pull. The IDEA of the story was interesting, but the frustrating and annoying voice of the protag as well as the terrible ending ruined it for me. Shame.6 found this helpful
Lacks basic functionality. Checking the "View update history" shows that there has NEVER been an update.4 found this helpful
Loved it and didnt expect that ending, took a while to get it working but worth it in the end
I bought this game at 90% off, and wow - what a deal! Honestly, it's worth the regular price - with some minor caveats. The controls are not good on Quest controllers, but I think remapping could fix that (I didn’t attempt that). And it's sort of a one-and-done game (I got all achievements in my single play-through). Those quibbles aside, this is a gorgeous game. Lots of Easter Eggs for the final plot twist if you pay attention (but I highly doubt you’ll ever guess the ending). The graphics are good, and so is the voice acting. The music is perfect. The puzzles are not too challenging, but it is still fun just to learn the story. Any PCVR enthusiast should have this game in their collection, and at the current price (still 90% off as of this review), you can’t go wrong. If you like orchestral music, grab the soundtrack with it.
I loved it. It's a graphically beautiful game with an interesting story. The ending is definitely a twist, but the lead up to it will have you suspecting things like crazy. It's very imaginative and well done. I played it on a quest 3, and there is one glaring issue that I noticed. If you play via Virtual Desktop, the game reverses your hands. You can still play, but it's frustratingly distracting. So I tried playing via Steam Link, and that fixed the hands issue. In Steam Link the game defaults to a low resolution, but that's easily fixed in the settings. Other than that it's been pretty much smooth sailing. Since it was designed for Vive controls, it's a little finicky. You have to push down the joystic to move, and use the trigger to move faster, but this is an old game, so I guess the controls are just archaeic, but still playable. This is definitely a good game, and needs more love.
Just played this again...is it perfect no, but its aged okay. graphic wise its decent enough to enjoy... controls aren't perfect but they aren't that bad for a relaxing puzzle game. used quest 3, with meta link to play the game on steam.
