About Trading Card Inspector

Trading Card Inspector is a uniquely styled, chilled-out, papers-please-'em-up set in the cutthroat, absurd world of Habubis Corporation.Inspect your way through dozens of hand-drawn, hilarious trading cards as you investigate the mysterious Habubis Corporation in Story Mode, or until you ultimately perish in Endless mode!Use guideline notes, errata memos, reference lists and your own wits to identify if a card is valid or invalid! It'll then be up to you to find the accurate value for valid cards, while destroying invalid cards with the shredder.                          As Habubis Corporation's new premier Trading Card Inspector, you're put in charge of quality control for their wildly popular Habubis Trading Card Game. Learn the ropes, rate the cards and rise through the ranks while uncovering a tale of friendship, corporate espionage and murder?!You'll get to meet shady characters, make tough choices and attempt to discover the truth within 'The Truth', all while dealing with ever-increasing difficulty modifiers that turn the gameplay on its head and mess with your perception. You'll need to keep a sharp eye open and your wisdom about you as you inspect, appraise, verify and value cards in an ever-maddening world of corporate evil and bureaucracy. As you progress through STORY MODE, new and exciting gameplay modifiers are unlocked for use in ENDLESS MODE, where you can work to beat your previous score and earn tons of cash to spend in the Habubis Company Store.                          With each modifier you enable, the difficulty creeps up, but so too does your payment for each card successfully graded. Be careful that your risk doesn't eclipse your reward!Work until you die! There are over 160+ unique, hand-drawn trading cards to unlock, each with their own stories available to enjoy in the Card Gallery.                                        Oh, and of course there's Plarbo too!Trading Card Inspector's quirky 1-bit visual style is highly customizable, with 40 unlockable color palettes and 20 desk patterns, as well as several silly desk-widgets.                         Pick out a great combination and make your workspace truly yours (within company guidelines).

✦ AI summary

Players praise this as a hilarious, lighthearted alternative to Papers Please that removes the crushing atmosphere and time pressure while keeping the satisfying detail-checking gameplay loop. The humor, customization options, sound design, and gradually introduced modifiers create an engaging and replayable experience, though some feel the story ending and overall content could be more substantial.

Perfect for people who like playing Papers Please but don't like playing Papers Please

This game is so incredibly fun. You're going to hear it compared to Papers Please and that's valid, but it's not a carbon copy. I found a lot of things about this game more intuitive to play. The story was hilarious, the rules were easy to grasp. The achievements were just tough enough that it was a challenge to get them all, but it wasn't impossible. And even though I beat the story and got all the achievements, I can definitely still see myself coming back to play endless mode. This is 100% worth the money!

i have never seriously reviewed a game before on steam, but this one has definitely earned a special place in my heart. it tickles that 'papers, please' perfectionism in my brain while also having a super engaging and funny storyline, an incredibly (and frustratingly) well-made endless mode, and lots of fun decorations and cards with lore. i love the whimsy, the frustration, and the weirdly addictive quality that this game has. it has definitely made its way into my top 10 favourite games of all time, ranking alongside skyrim, slay the spire, minecraft, league, etc. i very highly recommend it to anyone. not only do you get a lot of bang for your buck, but you also get hours of fun (i finished it in around 7 hours) and a good challenge with the endless mode. i’m very curious to see what’s next for this game and can’t wait to follow its further development :)

Absolutely amazing game. It's a chiller version of Papers Please with some insane and sudden lore with some crazy twists, turns, and INCREDIBLY unexpected secrets. Also...and more importantly... PINEAPPLE.

You play as a trading card evaluator for a corporation that may or may not be evil. Choose the right value for the cards based on their stats and shred the fakes. Pretty simple, right? Well not when each level has unique stat modifiers as you progress, keeping the gameplay fresh but also ramping up the difficulty! But don't worry because by then you're already an expert, it is your job after all, and let's face it it's more fun than your real job. The story is very compelling with lots of fun twists and turns. You'll want to replay each level, not only to attempt a perfect, but also to unlock the branching paths giving you some surprises towards the end. And there is an endless mode where you can either challenge yourself or play more casually by picking whatever modifiers you want. What really shines here is the art and music. The visuals have a pleasing monochrome style and you can choose your colour scheme as you gradually unlock more. The game has tons of charming, funny, and dare I say beautiful characters making you want to collect all the cards. The tunes are fantastic and go from fun, head-bopping beats to ethereal. Overall it's fun all the way through and you will feel …
