Unlimited Escape 3 & 4 Double Pack

In a procedurally generated maze, you must guide some prisoners to safety (a blue cube). You can shoot the enemies but you must take care to not shoot the prisoners too. Some pushable blocks can block the enemies or kill them. This is an original little action game. The graphics and the music are correct, not great, but appropriate. The little stylized characters are cute enough. The random generation of mazes gives interesting results, more or less difficult each time. This is quite addictive at the beginning and after that, a game I play for a short session, from time to time. [i]Unlimited Escape 4[/i], included in this pack, has the same gameplay, with a different layout. I played previously [i]Unlimited Escape 2[/i], that has a gameplay a little different. I prefer [i]Unlimited Escape 3-4[/i], where you have a better control over the prisoners. The third and fourth entry in the 'Unlimited Escape' franchise have no distinguishing features between the two, so the following comments apply to both. Level design by algorithm to create unlimited levels is not a simple task. Much of the random levels provided by this game can be beaten in seconds due to them being too or impossible due to necessary elements being placed off the map or blocked off locations. The camera rotates while moving and swings wildly while using the mouse which makes it difficult to walk in a straight line, a mechanic core to a good game feel. Visually this game is just a collection of cubes bouncing up and down which is no way to go through life.

To put this succinctly - this is a randomly generated puzzle game where they've expected random generation to make for an infinitely replayable game. The base concepts and executions are so poor, however, that it amounts to an infinite void of boring nonsense. Random generation is the main problem here - in that it robs any identity or character the game might've had, and offers the abysmal mechanics nothing to hide behind. Calling this "two" games is only true insofar as there are two executeables, the differences seem to be so insignificant as to explain why they're packaged together. Really, don't bother.
