Mikołaj Spychał once again demonstrates a natural potential for storytelling in “What Makes Us Special” but also exposes a glaring lack of proficiency in character, plot, and world development throughout this exceedingly short visual novel. This story felt rushed, almost unnaturally so, with far too many “A few days/weeks/months/years later…” fillers. To be perfectly honest, the $12.99 price point precludes any forgiving leeway on such throwaway “literary” junk. Already suffering from a sub-par story, “What Makes Us Special” fails to impress in any one area at all. The game has no CGs, no chapter replay, and no on-screen UI. The sprite artwork is mediocre, the characters are flat, and the music is repetitive and oftentimes inappropriate for the mood of some scenes. The background artwork was made by a different artist and is rather nice. I’d like to see Mikołaj Spychał continue improving upon story quality and length, character development, and artwork. For the time being, however, I can’t recommend this game in good conscience. Topping out at three hours for all content complete, it’s just not worth the money or effort.6 found this helpful

Short visual novel. There are three romance options. Each of them fellow students. Decent for what it is.3 found this helpful
I do feel kind of bad for giving this a negative review but in honesty I was quite bored playing it.2 found this helpful
It's quite bland and very basic. I don't know the name, but I recognise the style of the character sprites from one of those drag and drop style manga maker programs, and I wouldn't be surprised if the backgrounds were default with the visual novel builder the dev used. There's a coherent story with a start and an end and multiple character routes, but it's very short. Overall, I wouldn't recommend it.1 found this helpful
