Is Baldur's Gate 3 worth it?

Baldur's Gate 3 is expensive by RPG standards and rarely discounted, so the question is fair: is it worth it? The short answer is an emphatic yes — it is one of the best games ever made.
What makes it special
Larian built a role-playing game that genuinely reacts to you. Almost anything you try — talking your way past a fight, shoving an enemy off a cliff, an unlikely spell combo — the game accounts for. Choices carry across an enormous, hand-crafted campaign, the writing and voice acting are superb, and it plays brilliantly in co-op.
The catch
It is big. A first playthrough runs 75–100 hours, and it does not hold your hand. If you want a quick, casual game this is not it. If you want something to disappear into for a month, nothing is better.
The verdict on price
