Addictive and Easy
There are probably 3 ways to play this game.

Fast and loose. Scan all the choices and make decisions on the spur of the moment and rely a bit on that luck, and inner robustness that secret agents in the movies somehow seem to always have.
As a book. It's a story and you let it unfold, but you enjoy the excellent script and notice every turn in the road based on mostly casual choices.
Laser focused. On an outcome and goal and make direct choices you know are going to win, all while never under-estimating your opponent's arsenal of tricks.
And to be fair to anyone who thinks the any of these options is more fun, it does seem to never let you break the story entirely. A story entirely visualised in charming and live motion graphics, with a driving soundtrack backing it.
Postcards
The game is basically a choices matter written on postcards. Each choice is a postage stamp. The stamps have different colour and image which line up with the kind of choice. Ranging from happy-go lucky (A comedian in Cyan) to brazen (A Mauser in orange). In between lie Bold (A read axe), Professional Spy (Bespectacled gentleman in yellow), or …

An interesting plot, looks lovely, generally fun to play. It got repetitive and a couple of the characters really annoyed me.

Flash with no substance. The story is awful, and the whole thing is just badly written. The characters are meaningless, the story is fluff and your choices are overwhelmingly meaningless. To add insult, it's boring too.

Picked this up in a sale, and would recommend doing so to others. Actually, full price is pretty reasonable too. I found this game very entertaining and it looks great, though visually simple. My only gripe is that once or twice I didn't understand what I was choosing when making decisions, but that's often the case with narrative games.

Developed by Stave Studios and published by Tributary Games, Over the Alps is a narrative adventure that proves a compelling story can be just as engaging as fast-paced gameplay. Set against the backdrop of Europe on the brink of World War II, the game places players in the role of a British intelligence agent carrying out covert operations throughout Switzerland. Instead of focusing on combat or stealth mechanics, it presents its tale through a series of interactive postcards and written reports, creating a storytelling style that immediately distinguishes it from other games in the genre. The format feels fresh and immersive, drawing players into a world of espionage where every written exchange carries weight and every decision can alter the course of the mission. The game's strongest asset is its exceptional narrative design. Featuring an extensive script filled with branching paths and meaningful choices, Over the Alps encourages players to think carefully before responding to conversations or making critical decisions. Every encounter has the potential to reshape future events, with relationships evolving naturally depending on the player's actions. Trust is difficult to ear…
