Resort Island Simulator sets a fantastic initial trap, serving up a deeply satisfying management loop that makes the early and mid-game hours fly by. The magic completely evaporates in the late game, where full automation strips away any actual gameplay, leaving you with zero player agency and no real ending—just an endless, pointless grind. Add in a sprinkle of lingering bugs, and the experience totally deflates. It's a great casual fix while the momentum lasts, but definitely hold out for a discount.

Controller support is a joke. The camera speed with a controller is way too slow even at the maximum setting, and getting a mouse cursor when selecting or navigating things feels incredibly rough and unfinished. Refunded.

Lots of fun for a cheaper sim type game. Devs are already updating. If you like this genre and pirates, it's a no brainer for the price.

60 hours. I started this game treating it as a chopping wood and collecting shells game (grinding for gold - shells ran out fast, and they don't respawn that I can tell). I did it all myself, and had no intention of compromising and buying an indentured servant. I now have a full roster of exploited workers. It started with a cleaner - and it was such a relief that I didn't have to sweep up the crap on the beach every day. The farmer seemed like a good idea (having doubts now, but I have decided to keep her), and things kept escalating. I thought I'd never hire a cook - I had this concept of cooking the meals, but as soon as I had a popular resort I just couldn't keep up with demand. I may have never enjoyed a game this much. Sadly, I seem to be getting close to end game. After everything is done, there's limited interest for me. I think part of the problem there is the guests are too limited, with exceedingly repetitive dialog. This (and I can hear the mob bearing torches approaching as I say this) would be an excellent use of LLM AI. Limit its subject choices and let them chat.
